Chapter 277
Anna’s POV:
Today was the day Blake and I were getting divorced–the final day of my carefully laid plans.
But there had been a slight hiccup. The unexpected hospital visit had made everything more rushed than I’d anticipated. Thankfully, it hadn’t affected the end result.
I was lying alone in the hospital bed, drifting in and out of sleep. Just as dawn broke, the scenes from my dream jolted me awake
The dream felt too real–Blake standing on the edge of a high–rise building, wearing only a thin white shirt that flattered in the cold wind. I called his name, and he turned to me with a slight smile before falling backward into nothingness.
“It’s just a dream,” I whispered to myself, wiping away the sweat. Blake would be fine. He would live well without me
As daylight filtered through the hospital room blinds, I reached for my phone and called Michael as planned.
I’ll meet you outside the Wright Group building in an hour,” I said, my voice steadier than I expected.
‘I’ll be there, Michael replied. “With me there, I’ll feel better about this.”
“With you there, I feel better too.” I managed a small smile.
An hour later, Daniel trailed behind Michael and me, a leather briefcase tucked under his arm as we headed toward the conference room at Wright Group headquarters.
I, Michael, and several plainclothes police officers slipped into the adjacent meeting room to observe through the monitoring system.
Today was the final payment day for the Blue Wave Technologies and Wright Group project. I knew exactly what Caroline had done with Blue Wave’s funds. and I was curious to see her reaction when everything came crashing down.
Sure enough, Caroline’s face turned ashen when Daniel explained that the project had lost all her money. Cold sweat beaded on her forehead as panic set in.
“We can offer some compensation for the financial issues, Daniel said smoothly, “but I’m afraid it won’t cover much of your losses.”
For Caroline, it was like watching her world collapse. Daniel mentioned he’d already contacted other project partners and offered them satisfactory prices. The meeting concluded successfully, but Caroline grabbed Daniel’s arm, preventing him from leaving.
After Daniel consoled her briefly and left, Caroline remained alone in the conference room. Her phone rang–someone claiming to be from Blue Wave Technologies‘ finance department.
“Someone accessed Blue Wave Technologies‘ financial system with a private login two months ago,” the caller said. “We’ve reported this to the police, and the previously malfunctioning security cameras have been fixed.”
“Anna!” Caroline screamed into the phone. “It must be Anna! She’s getting her revenge!”
Michael and I watched through the monitor as the police prepared to enter. Suddenly, Caroline made a move that caused Michael to signal the officers to wait.
With trembling hands, Caroline called her daughter/Claire. “I need you to charge five million dollars on Blake’s card for an emergency,” she begged, voice quivering.
“That’s Blakey’s money, Claire replied coldly. “He said his money is only for me to use.”
“He’s my son!” Caroline insisted, desperation in her voice.
Claire’s response chilled me to the bone: “Without blood relation, what kind of son is he?”
Caroline exploded with rage. ‘God, you’re sick! You’re mentally ill!

“If I don’t make it through this, Caroline threatened, 411 expose how you cut off William’s heart monitor!”
“That was your ideal Claire shot back.
Caroline laughed bitterly. It doesn’t matter. It’s a capital offense either way. You can call for Blakey from he!!!
My face darkened. If I hadn’t overheard Caroline, I might have enjoyed watching them fear each other apart.
But how could they do it?
Claire should have known what William meant to Blake, Didn’t she love him? How could she bear to watch him suffer his father’s death?
When I secretly went abroad earlier, Blake and I had fought, delaying my return. Worried William would be lonely during Christmas, Blake had sent Claire back first for companionship.
We never expected she’d return not as the daughter, but as an executionet.
William had been barely hanging on, kept alive only by hospital care. Even when doctors reported improvement, Blake remained cautions. We all knew it was likely just a final rally before the end.
When news came that William had died, Blake barely showed his grief, though I knew he felt it deeply. He’d probably prepared himself for that day countless times…
Should I tell Blake? What would happen if he learned that Claire–the one person he truly trusted and cherished–had killed his father?
I turned to Michael, who looked horrified. “On Christmas Eve, William died while Blake and I were in Paris.”
“Murder!” Michael whispered.
