Chapter 262
I watched Caroline’s face as she beamed at me from across the table.
Did she really think I believed any of her act?
Caroline’s arrival had thrown the meeting room into chaos, like a depth charge dropped into still water. The Wright Group employees stared at us in confusion.
“Daniel, who are these people?” someone finally asked. “We’re about to start the meeting. Why are outsiders here?*
Others joined in. “Unauthorized personnel need to leave. You’re holding up our meeting.”
Caroline’s cheeks flushed red. “How dare you call me unauthorized personnel? I’m here for the meeting too.”
The room erupted in laughter. Someone sneered, “What would an old lady like you be doing in our meeting?”
“I don’t remember having such elderly colleagues in our project department!‘ another added.
The words “old lady” hit Caroline like a slap. Her face turned red with rage.
I watched, maintaining my slight smile, waiting for the perfect moment. When the room reached peak chaos, I stood up and tapped the table firmly.
All eyes turned to me immediately. The contrast couldn’t have been more stark – Caroline fuming and flustered while I remained perfectly composed. The difference in our status was immediately apparent.
“Hello everyone, I said calmly. “Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Anna Anderson, and I’m the Chairman of Blue Wave Technologies.”
Daniel quickly added, “Everyone, make a good impression today. Miss Anderson mentioned that if your project proposal is impressive enough, we might increase the startup funding we discussed earlier!”
The employees‘ attitudes flipped instantly. Their eyes now followed me like I was some kind of financial deity. I turned toward Caroline, my expression cooling.
“Mrs. Wright, in the company, please address me as Miss Anderson.”
Then I faced the front of the room again. “Let’s begin.”
Caroline stood awkwardly until someone finally pulled up a chair for her at the very back of the room. As soon as I turned toward the screen, my smile vanished completely. I didn’t need to pretend anymore.
Throughout the presentation, Caroline paid close attention, especially perking up whenever figures in the millions were mentioned. I could practically see her mental calculations.
When the meeting concluded and everyone else filed out, Caroline approached from the back row.
‘Anna dear, can this project really make that much money?” she asked.
1 nodded slightly.
“Those opportunistic people back there
–
are they really capable?” Her tone was doubtful.
I suppressed a cold laugh. Daniel had orchestrated that little scene perfectly, showing Caroline exactly where she stood in the hierarchy.
I kept my plastic smile in place, though my eyes remained cold.
‘I invited you today to show you my determination, I told her. “You can’t get into Wright Group directly, but you can start with Blue Wave Technologies and participate in Wright Group projects. I’ll help you make significant profits first. Then, when you want to acquire Wright Group shares, you’ll have the capital, right?”

Chapter 262
Caroline barely made it out the door, already lost in fantasies of mountains of cash, when Daniel turned to me
You’re just taking her along for the ride? Seems too easy on her, he frowned.
“The plan is to let her watch us make money without letting her invest, I explained. “Each day, someone will report the incoming funds
If she wants a piece, she’ll have to invest.”
Daniel shook his head. “That’s a loop she can’t escape.
won’t spend a penny of her own.”
“She doesn’t need to, I replied. ‘I’ll give her the money.”
I continued outlining my strategy, including placing a woman around Caroline’s age in the finance department to befriend her and fulfill her requests.
Our conversation was interrupted by the sharp click
of
high
In the hallway.
The door swung open, and Claire walked in wearing business attire with professional makeup that looked completely unnatural on her like a child playing dress–up in adult clothes,
She held her head high, breathing in the rarefied air of power that she normally couldn’t access.
Anna, what are you doing here?” she demanded. “Didn’t the executive secretary tell you Blakey is away on business? How did you find this place?”
Daniel frowned and stepped in front of me protectively. “Who said our Chairman Anderson is here looking for someone? Miss Wright, please leave. This conference room is still booked, and our meeting is ongoing.”
“Whatever,” Claire scoffed. “Who cares about your little project? The entire Wright Group belongs to my brother, doesn’t it? Meetings are so boring.”
I laughed coldly. “I certainly don’t make much money. But since you’re working at Wright Group now, what position has Blake given you? What’s your salary? I’m surprised you haven’t completely ruined the executive secretary’s office yet.”
My mind raced. If Blake had such high standards for work but still placed Claire in the secretary’s office, it showed just how much he doted on her.
Claire confidently pulled a black card from her pocket. “See this? Blakey gave me his card. He said he doesn’t need it right now and told me to spend as I
want!”
I recognized it immediately as Blake’s only personal black card – not an authorized user card. A bitter feeling washed over me.
“Where is your brother?” I asked with a cold smile.
