Chapter 253
FriB Stepsister a decret
Anna‘ POV
Thinking about what Isabelle fold me last night when she came to find me, she had probably finally revealed her festings to Blake,
She quickly confirmed my suspicion.
The voice inside continued–it was Isabelle speaking.
“Mr. Wright, to be honest, the wedding today might not happen at all. Seth may have already eloped with Anna.”
Blake let out a cold laugh, his voice lazy and filled with a man’s satisfied confidence. “You’ve lost your mind.”
Outside the door, we all exchanged bewildered glances. If Emily hadn’t covered Ethan’s mouth, he would have burst out laughing.
Seth turned to make eye contact with me. There was a glimmer of hope in his eyes, but it immediately disappeared when he met my level gaze.
Isabelle’s suggestion was utterly crazy. I wasn’t sure how much Seth knew about this plan, or if he had orchestrated it himself, but letting her continue would be detrimental to all of us.
I raised my hand to knock, but Seth caught my wrist. He put his index finger to his lips, signaling me to stay quiet, then leaned down to my ear and whispered, “Keep listening, and you’ll discover the secret I wanted to tell you.”
I froze. My heart began pounding furiously. A bad feeling washed over me as I stared at the door just inches away, blinking my dry eyes.
“Haven’t you noticed my groom is missing, Mr. Wright?” Isabelle continued. “Seth told me he’d give up everything if Anna agreed to leave with him. Are you sure she’ll stay with you?”
I heard a sharp movement inside–Blake standing up suddenly.
My thoughts drifted back to last night. Blake had been so rough with me that I was left covered in bruises. I really do hate him. Was he worried I’d leave? That Seth would take me away?
“Why don’t we try a different arrangement?” Isabelle suggested, her voice dropping to a purr. “A merger between our families would bring you much more benefit than Anna ever could.”
‘I have far better business sense than Anna,” she pressed on. “What can a marine biology graduate possibly offer to help you run the Wright Group?”
“How stupid,” Blake’s voice turned glacial. “When has Blake Wright ever needed to rely on a woman? Our partnership is terminated. I’ll have someone info your father.”
There was a rustle of fabric and a thud. “Mr. Wright, you can’t do this! My father will kill me!” Isabelle’s voice rose in panic. “Men should prioritize their careers–you know I have more value than Anna!”
‘Are you trying to teach me?” Blake’s voice was dangerously low. “You’ve been completely played by Seth, and you don’t even realize it.”
‘What do you mean?” Isabelle seemed puzzled.
“Anna is my wife, Blake declared. “He didn’t even tell you that much before sending you to confront me? If that’s not using you, what is?”
“He told me you and Anna were already divorced,” Isabelle defended herself. “That they’re the ones who really love each other, and you forced them apar
I could almost see Blake looming over her as he delivered his final statement: ‘Remember this Anna and I never divorced.
Never divorced? The words echoed in my head, a deafening roar filling my ears. My mind couldn’t process what I was hearing.
I looked up at Seth. His face told me everything–a small nod confirming Blake’s words were true.
Chapter 253
Oh god. Every moment came rushing back. Standing In the pouring rain waiting for Blake to sign the papers. The divene zabresti la te to accept Seth’s advances, My compliance when I returned to Blake. It had all been a lie?
A tear slid down my cheek as I laughed bitterly. Now I understood Seth’s restraint when pursuing me not respect, hat knowledge that fra alle bound.
And Blake’s confidence all along, only panicking when I truly agreed to leave with Seth.
They had both been lying to me.
“What does it matter if you’re not divorced?” Isabelle’s hysterical voice broke through my thoughts. “Seth and Anna have probably run off together by non Take me with you, Mr. Wright–at least salvage your reputation!”
“Do you think any man would still want a woman after seeing her fucked until she could barely stand? Blake’s voice cut like a knife. Even if Seth saw her now, he’d only think she’s disgusting and slutty.”
The words hit me like a physical blow. Slutty. Disgusting. I curled my fingers into fists, nails digging into my palms. I suddenly became painfully aware of everyone around me–not just friends but strangers, all hearing Blake’s crude description of our night together.
