Divorcing My Husband Over His Stepsister's Secret novel Chapter 196

Anna’s POV:

Blake stared at me for two seconds before corsing under his breath. Without warning, he grabbed my wrld and econped me up into his arma

What the hell are you doing? Put me down! Where are you taking me? 1 struggled against his

grip, but he held me frinly.

You’ve been drugged and you’re acting like an idiot,he growled. You’re dizzy but refusing to go to the hospital and wasting time with the hallshit.

He carried me swiftly toward the elevator, my protests falling on deaf ears.

As we waited for the doors to open, I caught our reflection in the polished metal surface.

My throat tightened.

We looked the same as we always hadhis tall frame supporting my smaller one, his face stern and mine flushed.

But we weren’t the same people anymore.

Tears streamed down my face as I pounded my fists against his chest with renewed strength.

I can go to the hospital by myself! I can go anywhere in this world by myself! My voice cracked with emotion. I don’t need youyou have zero impact on my life! Don’t think you’re so important, barging in and out of my life whenever you feel like it. We’re divorced, do you understand? D1-9-0-8CED! How else can I explain what divorce means? It means I don’t need to see you again. I don’t need any of your help, Blake. I can’t take it! Do you understand?

He remained eerily calm, closing his eyes briefly before opening them again, masking what looked like pain. I’m just taking you to the hospital.

I don’t need it!I insisted.

Finally, he placed me on the ground, stepping back. Fine. I’ll go.

Blake entered the elevator alone.

As the doors began to close, he finally turned to face me. I started to walk away, but suddenly the room spun. I stumbled, my hand instinctively going to my forehead.

I accidentally touched the wound, hissing in pain.

Blake noticed. The doors were almost closed when his hand shot out to stop them.

He rushed toward me, his eyes fixed on my forehead where blood had started to seep through the makeshift bandage.

He gripped my shoulders, his voice shaking. What happened to your head? That’s a new wound!

He clenched his jaw. Anna, this is what you call not needing me?

Shit. I hadn’t realized the head wound was so obvious, I hadn’t even had a chance to look in a mirror.

I tried to cover it, but Blake caught both my hands./

You don’t need to be so angry,I said.

It’s just a scratch.

How. Did. This. Happen. His tone was icecold..

I shrugged it off. Hit the coffee table when I was drugged. It’s nothing serious.

Chapter 196

Blake pushed my bangs aside, carefully examining the wound.

Under the dim light, he studied the bleeding and the impact marks. I winced slightly, noticing his hands were trembling.

Afy heart fluttered traitorously, Even now, after everything.

We’re going to the hospital, he commanded. Your neck wound hasn’t healed, and now this head injury. No arguments.

Head trauma after being unconscious needs to be checked for concussion,he added, lifting me into his arms again and stepping into the elevator.

I stared at our reflection in the elevator wall and felt a wave of shame.

What was I doing? Getting carried around by another woman’s fiancé? I closed my eyes, refusing to look at

our shadows anymore.

At the hospital, the doctor first checked the healing wound on my neck before turning his attention to my forehead.

Any dizziness? Nausea? Other symptoms?he asked while examining me.

I answered mechanically, aware of Blake standing a few feet behind me, silent and watchful. He spent most of the time on his phonecalling Claire, probably.

The doctor disinfected and stitched my forehead wound. The pain was sharp and intense, but I bit my lip and endured it.

As the exam wrapped up, I instinctively looked around for Blake. He was gone.

I stood at the hospital entrance, feeling empty and abandoned. I called Daniel for help, suddenly realizing I didn’t even know which hospital I was in.
