Divorcing My Husband Over His Stepsister's Secret novel Chapter 110

hapter 110

Anna’s POV:

The air in the restaurant changed the moment Blake waved his hand, dismissing all the waitstaff. They disappeared like shadows, their footsteps fading into silence until only our breathing filled the empty space.

The background music softened to a whisper, wrapping us in our own private world.

I’d just signed the last document, my pen leaving a final flourish on the paper that would reconnect our lives. When I looked up, Blake’s eyes had changed.

The desire that had burned there moments ago had transformed into something deeper, more intenselike he was trying to memorize every detail of my face.

Stand up,he said, his voice lower than usual. Turn to me.

I did as he asked, smoothing my dress with nervous fingers. When our eyes met, something electric passed between us. It felt like our sools recognized each other, like time itself had stopped for this moment.

Blake placed his hand on the top of my head, his touch so gentle it made my heart skip. His fingers trailed through my hair, from crown to tips, the slight tremble in his hand not escaping my notice.

Mrs. Wright,he said, his voice rough with emotion, your hair has grown so much. Is it still for me?

Confusion rippled through me. I frowned slightly, not understanding what he meant.

His fingers continued to play with my hair as he promised, You’ve given up everything to come back to me. How could I not be good to you?The tenderness in his voice wrapped around me like a warm blanket. His thumb brushed my cheek, lingering at the corner of my mouth for a heartbeat too long.

In your heart, do you really think I’m an irresponsible man?he asked, his tone unusually soft and indulgent. The Blake I knew rarely spoke this waywith such naked emotion, such openness.

Before I could answer, he continued, each word resonating with certainty: I don’t even need to hear your answer. Every day your hair has grown, you’ve been with me. Mrs. Wright, even your hair loves me. You have me in your heart. You can’t hide it from me.

His gaze was endless, deep as the ocean, and I felt exposedlike he could see straight through to my soul. My heartbeat accelerated, my breathing becoming uneven as I realized he’d effortlessly uncovered my most secret feelings.

Guilt crashed over me like a wave. I’d returned to Blake with calculation in my heart, determined to find evidence of his inappropriate relationship with Claire.

Yet he’d done so much for mesupporting my return to EcoMarine Group, making space for my career. I’d accepted his help while planning to betray him.

I’d become someone I didn’t recognize. Someone who felt justified in deceiving him because he’d hurt me first. But wasn’t I doing exactly what I resented him for? Lighting the fire of his feelings only to walk away unscathed?

What kind of person does that make me?I asked myself. A woman who plays with a man’s feelings? This wasn’t what my parents or my education at schools had taught me to be.

Do youlike me?The question slipped out, lost and desperate. How many times had I asked him this same thing over the years? Each time had been an exercise in selftorture.

If his answer is different this time, I thought, then I’ll

Blake cut me off without hesitation. Of course I like you! Why would I be so good to you if I didn’t?

He leaned forward and pressed his lips against my eyes, which had grown warm with emotion. The gentle pressure of his mouth against my eyelids made my heart stutter.

His blue eyes were filled with tenderness when he pulled back.

You’re the biggest surprise of my life,he said.

Years ago, I might have teased him for such sweet talk, especially during those early days when we first met. But now, his simple 1 like youfelt like a dream come true, something I’d longed to hear for so long.

I reached out and gently pinched his neck. When he frowned in surprise, I wrapped my arms around him.
