Chapter 63

I’m on a business trip in Worvey. Can’t get back. I’ve handled the Jason issue for you,” he said and paused. “He’s just a desperate clown, lashing out without any cards left to play.”

He thought Jason was truly foolish, unaware that spreading rumors had legal consequences. For such a hot–headed fool, Jonathan didn’t even consider him a rival in love.

“Consider it as if his brain got scrambled from a concussion. I’ll make sure he stays put for a few more years. Don’t worry. I’ll handle it,” Jonathan said in a determined tone.

“Thanks. You don’t have to deal with my problems anymore; I can manage them on my own, Teresa responded, still a bit dazed.

“I’ve already taken care of it,” Jonathan said, implying that there was no need for formalities. I’ll never understand what you saw in him in the first place!”

Teresa didn’t argue and replied, “My judgment was off when I got mixed up with that jerk!”

“What about me?” Jonathan asked, his deep voice carrying a hint of curiosity. “Am I not a hundred times better than him?”

Teresa replied, “You’re both my exes. There’s no point in comparing. You should get back to work, and I have things to do.” That shut Jonathan up.

Once the call ended, Teresa hit Jonathan with a transfer of 100 thousand. [The 380 thousand gave Miriam for investments, plus the legal fees and such, please accept it.]

With no reply from Jonathan, Teresa sent another text. [Take it, would you? You’ve gone out of your way for me.]

Still, Jonathan didn’t reply. Teresa flipped her phone over, frustrated. She figured she owed him; her ex had been a lifesaver, and the thought of not returning the favor gnawed at her guilt

After Jason was arrested, Teresa gained a following of supporters, and the comments section was filled with sympathy for Teresa, who had such a trashy ex–l

-boyfriend who would spread rumors about her.

[In the future. I must be more careful when choosing a boyfriend, avoiding such sinister men.]

[Some men are just petty and vengeful when they can’t get what they want; it’s best not to get involved with them.]

[Teresa, you’re your own person. The quality of your clothes is great, and we’ll continue to support you.]
