Chapter 30: Sign the Mate Bond Severance Sooner

(Aria’s POV)

I stared at Dominic with bated breath, waiting for him to reveal what he’d discovered about Claire. The morning sunlight filtered through the car windows, highlighting his sharp profile as he drove smoothly through traffic.

Finally, he glanced at me with a slight smirk playing on his lips. “Claire Watson is pregnant.”

The words hit me like a physical blow. My mouth fell open as I tried to process this information.

“Pregnant?!” I managed to stammer out, my mind racing with implications. “Whose child?”

Dominic chuckled, his silver–gray eyes briefly meeting mine before returning to the road. “Probably not

Alexander’s. Didn’t you just say he has weak seed?”

The irony wasn’t lost on me. I almost laughed at the cruel twist of fate – both Alexander’s current and former

mates pregnant at the same time, despite his supposed infertility.

I opened my mouth, ready to reveal my own pregnancy, but something held me back. The words died on my tongue as I reconsidered. Was now really the right time? With the mate bond severance still pending and everything so uncertain?

“What did you want to say?” Dominic asked, his perceptive eyes catching my hesitation.

“Nothing, just shocked,” I replied quickly, deciding to keep my secret a little longer. My hand instinctively

moved to my belly, a gesture I was making more frequently now.

Dominic nodded, accepting my answer without pressing further. “The child is most likely Claire’s and her ex–husband’s,” he continued, smoothly turning the car at an intersection.

“I was thinking the same thing,” I agreed, my mind working through the implications.

Claire’s pregnancy complicated everything. If she was carrying her ex–husband’s child, she needed Alexander more than ever – as a provider, protector, and father figure. No wonder she’d been so desperate to secure him.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sudden vibration of my phone. Alexander’s name flashed across the screen. I rejected the call immediately, my jaw clenching.

Not five seconds later, it rang again. And again after I rejected it once more.

“He’s persistent,” Dominic observed dryly as my phone continued to vibrate.

Without warning, a hand reached out. “Give it to me,” Dominic said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

I hesitated briefly before placing my phone in his outstretched palm, curious about what he planned to do.

Dominic answered the call, immediately putting it on speaker.

Aria, are you crazy?” Alexander’s voice filled the car, tight with barely contained fury. “You left me with Claire! Do you know what you’ve done? You-”

“Alexander,” Dominic interrupted calmly.

There was a deafening silence on the other end of the line, I could almost picture Alexander’s stunned expression, his amber eyes widening in disbelief.

“Dominic?!he finally spat out, the single word loaded with venom.

“Why are you answering Aria’s phone?” he demanded.

I sat perfectly still, watching Dominic’s relaxed posture as he handled the call. It was hard to believe these two had once been friends. I remembered watching them dominate the basketball court during territory gatherings in our younger years, their teamwork seemingly effortless.

Now, they were on opposite sides of an invisible line, with me caught somewhere in the middle.

“What do you think?” Dominic replied casually, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel in an unhurried rhythm.

Alexander’s roar nearly shattered the phone’s speaker. “Dominic, Aria and I aren’t severed yet! She’s still my

Luna!”

My wolf bristled at his possessive tone.

“Even if I’ve wronged her in the past, it’s between us,” Alexander continued. “It’s none of your business! I’m

warning you, stay away from her!”

Dominic laughed softly, the sound dangerously controlled. “What if I don’t?”

“Dominic!” Alexander’s voice had taken on that Alpha edge that usually made pack members cower.

It had no effect on Dominic.

“Alexander, as a friend, let me give you some advice,” Dominic said, his tone deceptively light. “Sign the mate

bond severance sooner. Don’t force my hand.”
