Chapter 167: Won’t Harm the Pup…
(Aria’s POV)
As Dominic answered the call, my heart leaped into my throat, my wolf whimpering anxiously within me. The silence in the car felt suffocating as I waited for whatever news would determine our future.
Seeing my nervousness, Dominic chuckled, his lips curving slightly as he put the call on speakerphone. His powerful Alpha presence radiated calm confidence, as if he already knew what the outcome would be.
“Alpha Dominic, this is Director Chen from the Northern Territory Business Council,” the voice came through clearly, professional and formal. “I’m calling to inform you of our final decision regarding the investigation into your herbal remedy company.”
My hands clenched together in my lap, my pregnant wolf stirring restlessly. This was it. The moment that would decide everything.
The other party’s words reached my ears clearly, though I was utterly confused by the professional jargon about “regulatory compliance” and “ingredient verification protocols.”
My mind struggled to process the technical language until the very last sentence: “After repeated investigation by the Northern Territory Business Council, your herbal remedy company does not involve counterfeit ingredients.”
The moment these words were spoken, I gleefully grabbed Dominic’s arm, shaking it back and forth in silent celebration. A broad smile spread across my face, my pregnant wolf humming with relief.
“We did it,” I whispered, hardly daring to believe it was real.
Dominic seemed surprised by my excitement, and the curve of his lips widened as he maintained his professional composure. “Okay, I understand, thank you for your thorough investigation.”
After he hung up, I finally dared to speak at full volume. “That’s wonderful, the counterfeit ingredient charges have been cleared!”
Dominic playfully bent his finger and pinched my cheek, his touch gentle despite his Alpha strength. “It was never a big deal, so I didn’t tell you, to save you from worrying.”
I pouted, entirely ungrateful, my wolf still stirring with residual anxiety. “That’s only because it’s resolved now; you can speak without consequence…”
If the situation truly wasn’t serious, why would Alexander have come to gloat? Why would he have looked so satisfied when delivering the news?
“If it really wasn’t a big deal,” I continued, my voice gaining strength, “then why did Alexander seem so confident that it would destroy you?”
Dominic smiled and shook his head, not arguing with me further. Instead, he took my hand and asked, h cedar scent wrapping around me protectively, “Are you relieved now?”
“You’re not allowed to hide anything from me in the future,” I said firmly, squeezing his hand.
“Okay,” he agreed, bringing my hand to his lips for a gentle kiss.
Chapter 167: Won’t Harm.
On the way back to Moon Valley Residences, I was dozing off in the passenger seat of Dominic’s luxury SUV The gentle motions of the vehicle and the warmth of his presence had lulled me into a peaceful half–sleep.
The sound of his mobile phone ringing jolted me awake, my wolf immediately alert. I recognized the ringtone as Hunter Hayes‘ designated sound.
“Alpha Dominic,” Hunter’s voice came through the speaker, excited and slightly breathless. “I had someone investigate, and Alexander Reed bribed several doctors and nurses at Silvercrest Hospital.”
My eyes snapped fully open, anger immediately surging through me.
“I’ve found all of them,” Hunter continued, “and I’ve sent the personnel list and detailed information to your email. The evidence is substantial.”
“Okay, I understand,” Dominic replied, his voice carrying a note of grim satisfaction. “Good work.”
After he hung up, I turned to Dominic, my wolf bristling with anger. “Alexander planted spies in the hospital?”
“Yes,” Dominic nodded, his powerful Alpha scent shifting with satisfaction. “I actually suspected it before, so I had Hunter secretly keep watch over the hospital staff. My suspicions were correct!”
I suddenly understood why Dominic had arrived so quickly at the psychiatric center. He’d been monitoring the situation all along.
“That Alexander, he’s truly despicable!” I exclaimed, thinking of Alexander’s persistence.
A surge of anger rose within me, my wolf growling beneath my skin. I couldn’t even fathom what was wrong with Alexander; he seemed to have serious problems!
Back when I loved him so much that I lost myself, his wolf had disdained mine. Even our mate bond was only because Elder Reed favored me as a future Luna.
But after severing our bond, he suddenly became obsessed, completely contrary to his previous Alpha demeanor, claiming to love me to death!
What else could it be but madness?
“He is despicable indeed,” Dominic took my hand, his Alpha warmth immediately soothing my agitated wolf. “Don’t worry, your Alpha will take care of him.”
“Drive carefully!” I pulled my hand from his, pointing ahead with mock sternness. “Look straight ahead.”
“Yes, my mate,” he said with a laugh, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
We laughed and chatted all the way back to our territory, the earlier tension finally dissipating.
Dominic, as usual, put on an apron and began busying himself in the kitchen, his domestic Alpha behavior. making my wolf purr with contentment. The sight of this powerful Alpha King cooking for me never failed to warm my heart.
I sat on the sofa, scrolling on my mobile phone, with a fruit platter on the coffee table in front of me. I occasionally speared fruit with a fork, enjoying the peaceful domesticity.
–
The atmosphere was incredibly warm and peaceful. This was what I’d always dreamed of a simple, loving home with my mate.
“By the way…” Dominic, who had been preparing venison in the kitchen, leaned against the doorframe and looked at me, his silver–gray eyes thoughtful.

“Do you have time to go to the hospital for another DNA paternity test? I just confirmed the list of people bribed by Alexander, and the werewolf nurse who helped you with the paternity test is on it?
I swallowed the fruit in my mouth before speaking, my wolf stirring uneaally. “No wonder! Last time I had blood test, I heard that nurse answer a phone call, and she seemed to call the person ‘Alpha Reed
The memory came flooding back now. “I thought it was a coincidence and didn’t think much of it.
Now that I thought about it, the person who called the nurse at that time was most likely Alexander. He’d been manipulating the results from the beginning.
“Hmm,” Dominic tilted his head, looking at me with his commanding Alpha gaze. “Will you go do it?”
“Why do you insist on me doing this?” I couldn’t help but laugh. “Do you trust your Alpha instincts that much?”
“Of course,” Dominic curved his lips into a smile, his powerful presence radiating certainty. “My instincts are
never wrong.”
I was too lazy to argue with him about whether his ‘instincts‘ were accurate or not. It was just doing another DNA paternity test, not troublesome, so I might as well do it.
“Understood, I’ll do it again when I go to the hospital to see James sometime soon.”
“My mate is so good,” he said with obvious approval, returning to his cooking.
Night fell across our territory. The study was brightly lit, casting a warm glow across our shared space.
Dominic sat at the computer desk, his fingers flying across the keyboard. The clatter of keys sounded like a string of pleasant melodies, his Alpha focus entirely on his Shadow Pack business.
As usual, I held a book and sat on the sofa, keeping Dominic company while he worked overtime. My pregnant wolf was content to be near her mate, even in comfortable silence.
In the quiet room, only the sound of typing and the rustle of turning book pages could be heard. It was
peaceful, domestic, perfect.
After who knows how long, I heard the computer shut down.

I instinctively looked up, meeting Dominic’s dark, intense silver–gray eyes. His Alpha presence suddenly
shifted, becoming more focused, more intense.
“Are you done?” I quickly closed the book in my hand and stood up, smiling. “Can we go to sleep now?”
“Yes,” Dominic’s lips curved slightly, but his eyes were unusually bright. His wolf’s scent changed in a way
that made my pregnant wolf stir restlessly.
“How about a bath first? I’ll draw the water for you.”
“Okay,” I said, unsuspecting, and nodded obediently.
He led me by the hand towards the adjacent bedroom. Ever since Dominic and I had completed our mate
bond registration, we had been sleeping in the same bed.
At first, I felt a bit nervous and shy, my wolf uncertain about this new arrangement. But later, when I realized that Dominic simply slept on his side and never crossed the line, respecting my pregnancy and emotional
