Chapter 127: Being Relied Upon

Chapter 127: Being Relied Upon

(Aria’s POV)

I couldn’t help but feel a massive headache as I realized I had no idea how James had discovered my pregnancy. The secret I’d been carefully guarding was now completely exposed.

My aunt Sophia immediately surrounded me with concerned inquiries, her face beaming with joy. Her wolf’s

scent elevated with excitement.

“You child, how could you hide such big news as pregnancy from your family! This is wonderful news!”

Aunt Sophia continued questioning about my pregnancy duration, expressing concern that my belly wasn’t showing much yet.

She immediately began planning to buy venison to prepare nourishing stews for me.

“Proper nutrition during pregnancy is crucial for both mother and pup,” she declared. “The Northern Territory has the best game meat.”

Then she urged me to reconcile with Alexander and arrange a re–marking ceremony.

“His actions are signs of his concern for you,” she insisted, her traditional pack values showing. “A devoted Alpha always returns to protect his mate and heir.”

I cut her off firmly.

“Aunt Sophia, please don’t try to persuade me. I will not re–mark with Alexander under any circumstances.” Aunt Sophia was stunned, her amber eyes widening with worry.

“But what about your pup?”

“I will give birth to my child and raise him myself,” I declared with determination.

My hand instinctively moved protectively to my belly.

This severely agitated my aunt, who exclaimed in horror.

“You silly girl! What nonsense are you talking about? How can you raise a pup well by yourself? A she–wolf without an Alpha mate is like prey without protection. She cannot survive in the pack territories!”

Before I could respond, James interjected from where he sat with his injured leg propped up.

“Yes, Aunt Sophia is right, Aria. Don’t be so stubborn.”

His wolf’s scent carried frustration and fear.

“Quickly re–mark with Alexander, so he stops bothering us with his schemes!”

I retorted sharply, my wolf bristling defensively.

“I said I will not re–mark with him! My decision is final!”

James scoffed coldly.

“You can’t make that decision for yourself! Now that Mom and Dad are gone, you have to listen to me as pack

elder!

I scoffed back.

Why should I listen to you about my life?

Just because I’m your older brother!” he declared with authority. “That gives me the right to protect you from poor judgment!

Before I could reply, Aunt Sophia quickly grabbed my arm.

“Alright, don’t argue with James! He’s doing this for your good!”

She continued with concern.

“You need to be careful of the pup in your belly. What if you get stressed and harm the little one?

Aunt Sophia was trying to mediate, but to me, she was clearly siding with James.”

I knew this was typical of her. She always favored James, regardless of who was right or wrong.

“Anyway, I will not re–mark with Alexander,” I declared coldly, turning to leave.

As I grabbed my car keys, Aunt Sophia hurried after me.

I Aria, this morning I ran into Alpha Dominic at the door, so I gave him Sadie’s resume.”

She paused expectantly.

“Can you talk to him and ask him to let Sadie start working soon? It’s not good for a young she–wolf to stay home playing on her phone.”

I took a deep breath, remembering what Dominic had told me about letting his HR department handle such

matters.

“After submitting the resume, just wait for their HR department to notify her.”

Aunt Sophia nodded repeatedly.

“Good, good, that sounds professional.”

“Then when do you plan to return home?” I asked hopefully, wanting a departure date.

Aunt Sophia smiled cheerfully.

“We don’t plan to go back this time.”

“What?I was bewildered, my wolf whimpering anxiously. “Then where will you live?”

Aunt Sophia stated matter–of–factly, as if perfectly reasonable.

“Your apartment is big and spacious, and it must be lonely living alone. Now that you’re pregnant, I can move my family in to take care of you.”

“But this isn’t my apartment,” I protested weakly.

“Even if it’s rented, that doesn’t matter,” she dismissed with a wave. “I can help with housework and cook*

It’s not safe for a she–wolf to live alone in the city. It’s better to have pack family here.”

Aunt Sophia had promised they would only stay one night, but now she was planning for her entire family to

And your brother James was clearly bought off by Alexander,” Olivia said with certainty.
