After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1266

However, these shields were not invincible, and the rate of their destruction wouldn't match the rate of their creation back in the factories. It was still best to stop them from shooting.

Fargo had an answer to that, too.

While they watched the shields slowly create a path for his mobs, Fargo formed a cone with his ability, ordering several slaves to stand in front of him.

"Spread out," he said. "Make sure every area is covered."

The slaves' faces were pale, but they followed unconditionally anyway.

Fargo watched them spread out to different areas but mixed with other people. They wore the exact same clothing, too, so among the mobs, they were not easy to distinguish.

He sneered and looked at Alterra's side, who was still showering them with cannonballs. "HEY! ALTERRA!" he screamed. "Don't you find these slaves interesting?!"

The Alterrans didn't know what he was on about and just continued attacking until elements flew out, some of which even deflected the cannons.

Terrans.

"I'VE HIDDEN THEM AMONG THE CROWDS," he yelled. "ARE YOU SURE YOU STILL WANT TO SHOOT RANDOMLY!?"

Sure, Alterra no longer discriminated whether the enemy was a slave or not. But would that still be the case if they were facing Terrans?

At this, while it didn't completely stop the attacks, certain cannons really did stop, and there were some hesitant attacks among the archers.

It didn't happen everywhere though. It seemed that unless a direct order from a higher up was sent, the team captains would have the prerogative to decide what to do.

In some areas, the attacks remained relentless. Coincidentally, it was the area with the most number of elementalists, too.

When rains of arrows from Alterra's side targeted this group, three earth elementalists appeared in front of them, forming a relatively sturdy wall that shielded them and everyone behind them.

One of these men was a man named Baison, and he led the earth users in the group.

Baison's territory fell about six months ago after being defeated by a territory Northeast of them. He had managed to survive for a long time with his brother, and they fought valiantly for as long as they could.

It helped a lot that his brother was a veteran, but how long could they hold on?

Sadly, their home still fell under the hands of aborigines and he never saw his brother again after that.

It was horrible, he went from owner to owner and lived like a dog. He cleaned up after people and, when he wasn't fast enough, feces could even be thrown at him.

Men several levels stronger than him would beat him up for fun. One day, he just had enough and ended up exploding by accident. As a slave, he could not attack his owners, so his anger was manifested by earth spikes appearing around him, as if to defend himself from them.

They found out he was an elementalists (the Lord apparently not caring enough to check before) and he was sold at a high price in a Town, which was Basset Town.

He thought everything finally changed then because he realized that there were about a hundred of Terrans there! Even if they were slaves, at least they were together… right?

It was amazing. They didn't think he'd be able to work closely with a Terran before. Moreover, because they were all elementalists, their treatments had become much better and they now had their own beds and had at least one meal (albeit from the System restaurant) a day.
