You're Not My Mate novel Chapter 40

"Wait. You're not kidding?" She spoke after realizing me and Logan aren't laughing.

"He doesn't know how to love, or care. What he does know how to do is torture someone." I growled out, Logan stiffened slightly besides me his hand glowing blue as he ate I bite of food.

"No one needed to know that Violet. And neither of us needed to be reminded of it. Especially you."

"Well anyways. Off of that topic. What's it like outside of hell princess?" Adam asked. I was grateful for him changing the topic, I'm not even sure why I brought it up. I looked up from my food.

"It's really green, cold, it has giant oceans, trees. Most of the people are assholes don't get me wrong but not as bad as some of the demons down here. It has open space, little animals, big animals. Lots of fair game in the forests. It's amazing, but takes some time to get used to." I explained, I loved it up there, and I love it down here. I know once I become the ruler of hell I have to stay down here more then I can up there which makes me sad.

"It sounds weird. I love it." Adam said. I studied him for a bit.

"Are you a blood demon?" I ask he looks taken aback, it's rude to ask what kind of demon you are. But I'm royalty, so I don't give a damn.

"Yes, I am, so is Jean."

"Why don't you have a host yet?"

"We haven't been assigned one yet."

"I'mma get you hosts."

"You don't have to we can wait longer"

"Nonsense. How do you feel about werewolf's?"

"Depends on the rank of the wolf" Jean had butted in to the conversation between me and Adam, Logan was just looking at me in curiosity.

"Why would that matter?"

"Happy yet?" He chuckles. I shake my head no as I walk up to him getting only a few inches away from him. He tenses and his breath hitches as he looks at me cautiously. I reached down and felt his pockets and sides for any weapons, I also bent down to check his combat boots and thighs for any.

"Now I'm happy." I say and walk into my room and flopped onto the bed sighing. He closed the door and sat on the bed next to me. I looked over at him.

"What was the feeling?" He asked. I looked at him confused.

"The feeling the scanner couldn't detect." He clarified.

"Truthfully, I don't know. But whatever it was it felt good." I told him, he nodded.

"Why did you help me? You could have just stayed in the dining hall, or walked past my room, you also could have left after you beat him. But you helped me. Why?" I asked, I was genuinely curious about it. He didn't need to do it, in fact, I don't think anyone in a million years would even think of him doing something like that.

"I'm not sure, all I know is that I got a really bad feeling at the thought of you getting hurt by someone else that's not me." I nod at his answer.
