All the guests, either sighing for the intriguing appearance of the herb or questioning its value, burst into an uproar, among whom there were some intending to purchase it and bring it back home as another collection of their own.
However, in terms of financial resources, Maximilian excelled every single of them in the hall with no doubts. He raised his hand board and spoke out loud, "Three hundred thousand dollars."
His voice drew the attention of everyone, including Connor, Chief Carr and Rowen.
Rowen grinned, had his evil eyes fixed on Maximilian and sneered, "I guess you are spending all your property on that junk, Mr. Lee."
Maximilian plainly said, "It's none of your business. Are you feeling bored or caring about everything of mine, mama Rowen?"
Hearing the words of Maximilian, Rowen was flushed with anger and shame, feeling like there was a lump stunk in his throat that choked his words. He then made up his mind to insult Maximilian by spending a much higher price for Hardy Ganoderma.
"You're going to regret talking to me in that way, boy!" Said Rowen, and raised his hand board with a higher amount of money on it.
In order to play up to Rowen, the daughter of the chairman sat on Rowen's thighs and yelled to Maximilian, "Stop showing off yourself, little pauper! You will never catch up with Rowen no matter how!"
Maximilian understood very well the way in which Rowen was going to thwart him in getting Hardy Ganoderma. Though inside of him he considered it as disdainful to respond to any of the provocations of Rowen, the pressing situation of Victoria's grandpa left him not choice but to get the herb no matter what.
As the two indefatigably competing with each other, the auction price of Hardy Ganoderma reached an astonishing amount of one million dollars, which was totally out of what one could have expected for the price of a mere Lucid Ganoderma with distinctive appearance.
Connor, with several bank cards clenched in his hand, was wondering when would be the best chance for him to step forward and offer help to Maximilian, which was also currently in the head of Chief Carr.
Maximilian was gradually getting bored unceasingly and childishly competing with Rowen for Hardy Ganoderma, and said plainly, "Ten million dollars."
"Are you losing your mind! Ten million dollars? For this stupid Hardy Ganoderma?" The announcement of Maximilian stunned Rowen and left him wondering what was exactly in Maximilian's head.
He was right. There were only two reasons why Clark was here: one was Hardy Ganoderma, while another was Maximilian. He was here to meet Maximilian and show the power that he had.
Maximilian now considered this young man as a challenge. At the same time, the lady besides Maximilian soon refunded the full amount of money back to the bank account of Maximilian, which signified the restart of this round of the auction.
Rowen, trembling and remaining in silence, dared not to even catch the eyes of Clark, fearing of getting himself into trouble with the man from Dragon Sect.
"Well, then I'm going to add another ten million dollars to it." Maximilian looked at Clark and said.
"Nice try, but not a chance. Forty million dollars for Hardy Ganoderma!" Clark grinned and yelled out.
The atmosphere between the two was as cold as in the howling winter, and none of the others in the hall, including Connor and Chief Carr, could ever have a chance to intervene in their two.
