Chapter 521
Lisa’s expression instantly changed.
At the same time, Anathea reached into the bag and rummaged through it. Sure enough, there was a diamond necklace. She pulled it out, holding it in front of her. “We’ve got both the evidence and the stolen item. Are you sure you want to keep pretending to be clueless?”
At that moment, Lisa’s psychological defenses were finally broken by Anathea, and with a thud, she dropped to her knees.
“I–I’m sorry…”
Just then, a crisp, loud noise sounded.
Shirley struck Lisa hard across the face, fuming with rage. “So you stole my necklace! And you even dared to frame someone else!”
The crowd was surprised.
Lisa was stunned by the slap, looking at Shirley in disbelief. “Ms. Watson, you-”
Before she could finish, Shirley slapped her on the other cheek. “You vile thief! You’re still trying to deny it?”
She immediately seized control of the situation, rushing to defend herself to Grace while crying, “Mrs. Lancaster, I truly didn’t expect something like this to happen. I was just anxious to find the necklace quickly so it wouldn’t disrupt Ms. Lancaster’s welcome home party. But I didn’t know someone else was behind it, and I nearly accused someone else of it. I’m truly sorry.”
Shirley was apologizing, but not to Hannah. She was facing Grace and the surrounding guests. Her expressions, gestures, and tone all seemed as if they had been rehearsed.
“Huh, what a performance.” Louie immediately saw through Shirley’s act. “She obviously bribed Lisa. Now that things have blown up, she’s dumping all the blame on Lisa. Ms. Watson really knows how to play the game.”
“What can you do? She’s the eldest daughter of the Watson family. She’s got a powerful backing, so no one’s going to do anything to her. Lisa can’t offend her either.” Theo shrugged. But he wasn’t looking at Shirley. His eyes were fixed on Anathea. From the moment Anathea appeared, his gaze had been locked on her, unable to look away.
In the three months they hadn’t seen each other, she seemed to have changed quite a bit. She was more attractive and captivating.
Unfortunately…
Theo lowered his gaze, his feelings complicated.
Just like Theo had said, Lisa didn’t dare breathe under the pressure of Shirley’s glare, let alone speak up and defend herself.
Grace glanced at Lisa, then at Shirley, and a thoughtful look flashed in her eyes.
She’d seen through cheap tricks like this plenty of times before that she could tell at a glance.
Even so, she had no intention of exposing it.
Lisa was a nobody, while Shirley was the heiress of Watson Group. The gap between them was huge.
“Go collect your salary for the month, and leave the residence,” Grace ordered calmly.
Lisa immediately panicked and burst into tears. “Mrs. Lancaster, I’m sorry! Please don’t fire me!”
But the guards quickly came forward and escorted her out. No matter how she cried and begged, there was no room for negotiation.
Hannah watched as Lisa was dragged away, helpless and in despair She pursed her lips together and looked at Shirley, only to

It was as if she were saying, “See? Even if it was my fault, you can do anything about it.”
