Why the Crocodile Tears (by Flower Sock) novel Chapter 421

Chapter 421

Fortunately, whoever had tied her up hadn’t done it with full force. The knots were tight, but with enough patience, she could loosen them.

Anathea wasn’t sure whether that was a blessing or a curse.

Just as she managed to undo the ropes around her wrists and ankles, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside.

Her heart immediately palpitated.

She quickly grabbed the ropes and loosely wrapped them back around her wrists and ankles. Then, she lay back down on the floor and shut her eyes.

The door didn’t open. Instead, someone peered through the crack and uttered, Relax, she’s still out cold.

She’s not awake yet?another person responded in surprise. The dosage we used wasn’t much, was it?

With how small and delicate she is, it’s not surprising.

I heard Mr. Sinclair Senior and the others have already arrived at the main hall. Gregory’s there, too. Do you really think he’ll give up being the head of the family for this woman?

Anathea’s fingers clenched slightly.

So that was it.

They were using her to threaten Gregory.

I donthink she’ll be of any use. Throughout history, no man has ever given up power for a woman, especially Gregory. With his coldblooded nature, that’s not even possible.

Maybe not. Gregory risking his life for her over and over again proves that this woman means more to him than we think. Anyway, according to Mr. Harvey’s instructions, once the time is right, we just need to take her over there.

Anathea lowered her eyes, a flash of determination glinting in them.

Whether it was possible or not, she refused to be someone else’s pawn and get by those with ulterior motives. She couldn’t stay trapped here. She had to escape as soon as possible.

So, when one of them went to the main hall to check on the situation, she slowly got up and moved behind the door, grabbing a broken vase.

The person left behind suddenly realized Anathea was gone and panicked. Where is she?

He hurriedly opened the door to check inside, but Anathea seized the opportunity and struck him hard on the back of the head with the vase.

The man groaned and collapsed at Anathea’s feet.

Anathea pushed him away in fear, stumbling out of the room and running in the opposite direction.

She remembered that the Sinclair residence had a side gate. If she could make it there, she might escape. If not, she would run toward Brisa’s courtyard, knowing Brisa would protect her.

But after just a few steps, a sharp pain twisted in her lower abdomen. She leaned against a pillar, taking deep breaths.

Baby, pleaseHang in there. Mommy will get us out of here, she murmured, clutching her stomach.

As if the baby could hear her, the pain slowly subsided. Anathea pressed on, walking quickly with the support of the wall.

Stop right there! One of the men had doubled back and now spotted her, immediately giving chase.

Gritting her teeth, Anathea broke into a run, heading straight for Brisa’s courtyard. That was her last hope.

She could almost see the gates. It was just down this long corridor and around the corner. She needed only a few more steps.

But as she reached the corner at the end of the hall, someone suddenly yanked her aside.
