Chapter 341
Leon sat down, raising his hand to press his long, slender fingers against his brow in silence.
“Not feeling well?” Jessica tilted her head to look at him.
“It’s nothing, really. Just a bit dizzy, nauseous, loss of appetite, weak all over, head feels feverish, chills, stiff limbs, and my legs are a bit unsteady..
Finally, he added with a shrug, “It’s nothing. It won’t kill me.”
‘With such vigor, he’s clearly not dying,‘ Jessica thought, ‘but that attitude really leaves much to be desired!
The King of Northern Borderlands?
“Don’t you think you’re being rather childish, Your Highness?” Jessica scoffed, wiping her hands with a towel before taking a seat and sampling a few bites.
Leon flashed a knowing smile. “But I suspect you’d prefer me to stay a few more days. After all, Leanna’s antidote is remarkably effective. If I left now, your story wouldn’t really hold up, would it?”
“So, you’ve moved in all your belongings?” Judging by this grand display, he clearly wasn’t planning on staying just a few days.
Leon said, “Just for convenience, really…”
“Still busy with work, are you? Looks like you are recovering nicely,” Jessica said, rolling her eyes at him.
Leon immediately quipped, “You know me, Jessica. I’m the kind of guy who’s loyal to my country till the very end. Even if I were dying from my injuries, I’d make sure to finish my duties before even thinking about kicking the bucket. So, do you think a husband this responsible could possibly satisfy you?”
Leon sat with her, but the lavish spread on the table held little appeal for him.
The desserts were too cloying for his taste, but since Jessica liked them, he just tried a bite.
His palate remained dulled. Everything tasted bland and was hard to swallow.
Jessica studied his complexion. Even though his words were flippant, the pallor on his face told no lies.
Truly, even death would have to wait until he finished his duties. His jest was no jest at all.
“If you don’t like sweets, next time, just have them prepare half desserts and half other dishes. There’s really no need to go out of your way just for me,” Jessica couldn’t help but say.
Leon paused briefly in surprise before lowering his gaze to meet hers.
Next time?
So, had she finally accepted him?
Though bitterness still coated Leon’s tongue, a surprising sweetness bloomed in his chest.
He nodded with a gentle smile. “As you say, Jessica. Your wish is my command.”
Jessica’s cheeks flushed as she belatedly realized her slip of the tongue, but it seemed it was already too late.
‘Whatever,’ Jessica thought. ‘It’s not like taking it back would change anything
“Finish your meal and get some rest. I need to go to the palace,” she said.

Chapter 341
“Going to see Malik and Elsie?” Leon pondered briefly before declaring, “I’ll go with you.”
Once Leon set his mind on something, it was nearly impossible to change it.
In the end, Jessica relented and let Leon accompany her to the palace.
Much to her surprise, Garbisch was still in Elsie’s bedchamber at this late hour.
Jessica frowned as she listened to Nolan’s report. “What’s going on? Is Garbisch alone in there?”
