Chapter 332
Leon rubbed his temples, his face still somewhat pale.
Your Highness, are you unwell again?” Jessica asked anxiously.
Leon glanced at her.
Jessica said if I’m unwell, I could simply ignore Lincoln… Could I really do that?‘ Leon wondered.
A sudden anticipation welled up within him.
He was overcome with a lazy reluctance to think–to move even a single thought.
He nodded slightly.
Jessica looked at Lincoln expressionlessly and said, “Mr. Moore, Leon was wounded and poisoned last night while suppressing the bandits. Fortunately, my aunt’s timely treatment averted the crisis. Leon remains in poor condition and is unfit to attend the High Court. If cross–examination is required, would you kindly bring Anthony to our mansion instead?”
Lincoln’s face darkened at once, but Jessica didn’t give him a chance to speak. She pressed on. “My aunt is known as the Miraculous Venom Physician. She can cure any poison. For Leon’s safety, he must stay at our mansion under medical supervision for the next few days.
“Garbisch commands the Royal Guard and is solely responsible for Leon’s safety. Therefore, we can not permit Leon to accompany you to the High Court and expose him to unnecessary risks. I must ask for your understanding in this matter, Mr. Moore.
“Ms. Yates…” Lincoln began hesitantly.
“Oh, right. Leon was wounded in the shoulder, not just a flesh wound, but his meridians were damaged as well. If not properly treated, it could leave him with permanent damage. Although the Northern Borderlands are temporarily pacified, as everyone knows, countless insurgents still lurk there. They only submit out of fear of Leon’s might. But if word spreads that Leon is injured or his strength is compromised, I fear the Northern Borderlands will descend into chaos once again.”
Jessica looked at Lincoln, her voice soft and melodious, yet brooking no interruption. “Though Novigrad has many generals, only Prince Leon can single- handedly secure the Northern Borderlands. Mr. Moore, surely you wouldn’t jeopardize Leon’s recovery over some baseless allegations? Should any permanent damage occur…”
“I understand your point, Ms. Yates,” he said, though his expression had clearly soured.
‘Although Jessica makes some valid points, Leon doesn’t seem that fragile. Is all this really necessary?‘ Lincoln thought.
She wouldn’t stop talking–every sentence deceptively calm, yet every word laced with reproach.
If he really “invited” Leon back to the High Court today, and the Northern Borderlands were to erupt in chaos in the future, the full blame would inevitably fall on his head.
Lincoln had never considered himself lacking in verbal prowess since taking office, yet today, before the confrontation even began, he found himself already cornered into silence.
Well, this was a first for him!
Worst of all, he even found her argument utterly reasonable.
‘Wait, something’s not right here!‘ Lincoln thought.
“But Ms. Yates,” Lincoln said, “last night’s suppression of the rebels by Leon involves General Anthony. This matter…”
“Leon has entrusted me with full authority over this matter. Mr. Moore, why don’t I accompany you to the High Court?” Jessica asked.

Leon’s eyes darkened. Absolutely not!”
“Jessical Garbisch’s face darkened instantly.
What kind of place was the High Court? Was it somewhere a young lady could just waltz into?
Stepping into the prison cells of the High Court meant being skinned alive before coming out!
