Chapter 144
Hughie finally understood.
To Waldo, at this point, it didn’t matter whether Priscilla was truly the most capable. She was enough. She was the girl he had chosen, and that alone made her more valuable than any other.
Whether or not she was qualified to join their ranks didn’t even cross Waldo’s mind.
All he cared about was that bi

“Imperial decree, Your Highness!” Arider galloped toward them, dust rising behind him…
Reaching Waldo, the messenger leap from his horse and presented the decree with a deep bow. “Your Highness, urgent orders from the palace the rebels in Kabury County have slaughtered more than a dozen innocent civilians, His Majesty commands you to lead your forces there immediately- to eliminate them all within three days.”
Waldo took the decree with both hands.
Before he could say a word, the messenger leaned in slightly and whispered, “This opportunity was secured for you by Consort Adele. Make the most of it. Win a brilliant victory.”
“understand. Thank you,” Waldo replied, bowing in return.
The messenger mounted his horse and sped away.
“Kabury County’s rebels aren’t worthy of your blade,” Hughie muttered. “But.. I see now.”

Waldo’s eyes gleamed with cold determination. “Then I’ll wipe those rebels from the face of the earth.”
“Let the world see once and for all His past victories had nothing to do with Jessica
“Rally the troops. We ride for Kabury County immediately”
Not far away, Priscilla dismounted and hurried over her dress swirling around her legs. “Waldo What’s going on? Why is everyone rushing about?”
“Priscilla,” Waldo said, turning to her with a rare gentleness. “I’m being sent to Kabury County to crush the rebels. Someone will escort you back to the estate. I’ll return in a few days”
“you’re going to war?” Priscilla’s eyes lit up, sparkling with excitement. “Then I want to go too
She had heard the rumors, just like everyone else.
They said Waldo’s invincibility on the battlefield was all thanks to Jessica the deceitful little witch who had shamelessly claimed all the credit for

Now, Jessica wouldn’t be there. Priscilla thought, “This time, it would be me
Priscilla would be the one by Waldo’s side, the one offering high counsel, the one helping him seize victory.
She would become the strategist the world admired–the woman who would etch her name into history. Priscilla, not Jessica
Her voice trembled slightly with eagerness. “I want to fight alongside you,”
