Lincoln was intimidated by the enthusiasm of the ladies in Grand Cathay and felt like crying. Just then, a shadow appeared from above, blocking out all the lights above his head.
Lincoln opened his eyes and met Taylor's playful gaze. With a tiny cry, he broke free from the people around him and ran away.
Just as Lincoln lifted his foot, Taylor grabbed his backpack and hoisted him up. "I've finally caught you."
"Let go of me! Let go! Help, someone is trying to kidnap me!" Like a turtle caught in its shell, Lincoln flailed his limbs helplessly, but nothing changed.
Given Taylor's identity, it was impossible for him to do such a thing. Moreover, even if he were to commit a crime, these hotel workers wouldn't have the courage to confront him.
Taylor turned Lincoln around to face him and was about to persuade and reason with Lincoln. "Listen—"
"Ouch!" As soon as Taylor spoke, Lincoln threw a punch at Taylor's left eye. Taylor cried out in pain and quickly covered his eye with his hand. "You ungrateful little scoundrel."
"You shouldn't have caught me." Lincoln pouted defiantly.
Taylor let out an angry breath. "Fine, you've got guts. I won't go easy on you; let's see how you can escape again." Then Taylor tucked Lincoln under his arm and headed toward the elevator.
"Is this the troublemaker you were talking about?" The woman from earlier saw Taylor losing his temper and spoke more carefully.
"Yes, you stay out of this. I'll take him to the room my family always stays in." With that, Taylor stepped into the elevator and went up.
Once inside the room, he locked the door and finally let go of the little guy. As soon as Lincoln was free, he immediately hid behind the couch and took out the pepper spray from last time, assuming a defensive stance.
"Okay, I'll tell you the truth." Feeling helpless, Taylor raised his hands as an act of surrendering to show his sincerity. "I'm your mommy's friend. She asked me to look after you.
"Your mother is Kaylee Terzian, and you're Lincoln Terzian. You also have a younger sister, right?"
Lincoln's expression softened a bit, but he still held up the pepper spray. "How can you prove it?"
With a helpless smile, Taylor took out his phone from his pocket, clicked on a photo, and turned the screen toward Lincoln. "Look closely, is this your mother? The handsome man next to her is me."
Lincoln stretched his neck to take a look, then he put down the pepper spray in his hand and asked curiously, "Who's the lady holding my mom's arm?"
