Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1588

After getting into the car, Taylor started the engine and drove off immediately.

Lincoln quickly pulled out his tablet and opened the map, keeping a close eye on their real-time location.

Fortunately, they were heading back toward the city, which meant he could wait for the right moment to make his escape downtown.

Taylor couldn't help but glance at Lincoln in the rearview mirror, increasingly puzzled by his appearance. How could his idol's son look so unlike either parent?

Instead, he resembled Helen strikingly, and his eyebrows reminded Taylor of someone he knew.

Feeling uneasy under Taylor's scrutiny, Lincoln adopted a serious expression and asked, "I haven't even said where I want to go. Why are you driving already?"

Snapping back to attention, Taylor casually replied, "So, where do you want to go?"

His idol had clearly instructed Taylor to keep a close watch on Lincoln before she returned home. So regardless of where Lincoln said he wanted to go, there was really only one destination—the Xander residence.

"I want to go to Mouseland," Lincoln said, picking a random place.

"That's perfect! This is the way to Mouseland!" Taylor replied, completely unfazed.

Lincoln lowered his gaze, feeling exasperated.

Mouseland was to the west of the city, while they were heading south—two entirely different directions.

"Scamming kids will come back to haunt you, you know," Lincoln remarked, sliding the tablet into his bag and slinging it over his shoulder.

Taylor cleared his throat, raising his voice a notch. "Hey kid, what nonsense are you talking about? With a face like mine, how could I possibly be lying?"

"My mommy always says that the better someone looks, the better they are at lying," Lincoln shot back, adjusting his position. He gripped the driver's seat and leaned forward slightly, a spark of excitement in his eyes.

"Um…" Taylor stumbled over his words, unsure how to respond. It seemed his idol had taught Lincoln a bit too much too soon, making it hard to deflect him.

"Hey!" Taylor unbuckled his seatbelt and tried to chase after him, but his stinging eyes made it nearly impossible to see. Defeated, he climbed back into the car and called "Kaylee" via Bluetooth.

"I'm really sorry, Ms. Kaylee. Linc's being a handful. He bolted as soon as we hit the city, but don't worry—I'll have someone look for him right away."

"It's alright, I'm not upset with you," Helen replied softly, concern evident in her voice. "Are you okay?"

Knowing Lincoln as she did, she understood that confronting him seldom ended positively.

Wanting to maintain his pride in front of Kaylee, Taylor forced a smile and said, "I'm fine! What harm could a kid do? I was just a little careless for a moment!"

"Glad to hear that," Kaylee replied with a nod. "I'm about to board my flight. We can talk more when I get back."

"Okay."

As soon as he hung up, Taylor quickly called for an ambulance.
