Moments later, Niall broke the silence. "I'm tired. I'll head back to my room for a bit."
With that, he strode off toward the villa, leaving Claude and Helen behind.
Helen's expression shifted to confusion as she turned to Claude for assistance.
"Don't look at me," Claude replied dismissively. "You got yourself into this mess. It's up to you to fix it."
"Well, I suppose I'll just have to be patient," Helen said with a resigned sigh.
After all, trust would take time to build.
During her relationship with Jason, Kaylee had made several missteps that had offended the entire family, so it was no surprise Niall held a poor opinion of her. He likely refrained from publicly dismissing her out of respect for Claude's birthday.
With that in mind, Helen understood she needed to be discreet and not become a nuisance on such a joyful occasion.
Inside the villa, Niall lounged on the couch. Despite nearly finishing his drink, no one had come to join him.
Frustrated, he quietly tiptoed to the balcony and hid behind the curtains, peering out to assess the situation. To his dismay, Helen hadn't followed him; she was still on stage, chatting and laughing with Claude.
Niall's cheeks flushed with anger as he shouted toward the kitchen, "Betsy, get over here!"
"Coming! How can I help you, Mr. Haywell?" a foreign housekeeper named Betsy Jenner hurried in, her Cholonese broken and accented.
"Didn't you say Kaylee was apologizing and being coy with my father after she arrived? Now that I'm back, why isn't she even acknowledging me?" Niall complained, grievance etched on his face.
"Yeah," Betsy said innocently, "I really don't get it either."
Realizing the touch was intentional, Helen swiftly executed a wrist lock, twisting the man's hand 180 degrees. He let out a pained scream, immediately drawing the attention of the guests.
"Ouch! Let me go!" he protested, writhing in pain and struggling to straighten his back.
"Let you go? What about the harassment? Who's going to take responsibility for that?" Helen tightened her grip, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.
"Hey, what's going on? Is there a misunderstanding here? Mr. Martinez, this is the Haywell family's granddaughter; you need to apologize!" someone interjected, trying to defuse the situation.
"What granddaughter? I've never even heard of her! She's not a blood relative of the Haywell family. It
was just a joke! Look at what she's done to me!"
