Helen quickly pieced everything together. The man in front of her must be Jason Reed, Kaylee's ex-fiancé.
Before leaving the country, Kaylee had learned of Jason's affair with Katie, prompting her to end their relationship. Yet he still had the nerve to show up here.
"Someone, please escort this man out," Claude instructed firmly, eager to take action before Kaylee could be swayed.
At his words, several security personnel in suits moved closer.
"Kay, you need to come with me. I have something important to discuss," Jason insisted.
With that, he stepped forward and grabbed Helen's wrist, trying to pull her toward the door. However, Helen anchored herself to the ground, refusing to budge.
Puzzled, Jason turned to her and asked, "What's going on? Didn't we vow to support each other through everything?"
"Stop living in a fantasy," Helen shot back, pulling her wrist free. "Considering the disparity between our families, why would I ever stick by you?"
Jason's expression fell. "But you promised you'd be there for me during tough times and that you wouldn't look down on me."
"Financial situations can change with hard work, and we might find some common ground. But spiritual emptiness can't truly be filled. It's better for both of us if you recognize that now," Helen said, striving to be considerate despite the tension.
"Are you really going to betray our vow?" Jason shot back, his eyes gleaming with menace.
The atmosphere instantly became charged.
Meanwhile, Jenson had just arrived at the entrance. After grabbing a glass of red wine, he adjusted his wireless earpiece and camera before casually weaving his way into the crowd.
"Hey Chandler, if I remember correctly, we don't have any ties to the Haywell family, do we? Doesn't that make this a bit of a gatecrash?" Jenson asked Chandler over the line.
"Shut up."
"Fine…"
In the distance, Jason simmered with a blend of embarrassment and anger. On a whim, he reached for his phone.
After a few quick taps, he unleashed Kaylee's heartfelt confession for everyone to hear, her vulnerable words resonating throughout the party.
"If we face the storms of life together, we might as well grow old side by side. Jason, I promise to marry no one but you. If I ever break this vow, may the heavens rain down their fury upon me, and may I never find peace in death."
"Damn…" Jenson remarked, unable to contain himself. "It's hard to believe Ms. Haywell could have such poor taste. How could she fall for someone like him?"
"It's Ms. Terzian," Chandler replied, his voice laced with exasperation.
