Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1483

To fully embrace her new identity, Helen had to take on the responsibilities that came with it.

During her travels, Kaylee had sent a manuscript to a publishing house, never expecting it to make it through all the rounds and win the grand prize.

Today, Helen was set to accept that award on Kaylee's behalf.

The award ceremony buzzed with excitement, filled with esteemed writers who had made their mark in the industry.

Unsure if Kaylee had any acquaintances in this circle, Helen chose to retreat to a quieter corner, hoping to avoid drawing attention to herself.

Before long, the host announced, "Now, please welcome the gold medalist of this competition, Ms. Kaylee Terzian, to the stage for her acceptance speech! Let's give her a warm round of applause!"

The audience erupted in thunderous applause as Helen confidently stepped onto the stage, bathed in the spotlight. Standing at the center, she bowed graciously to express her gratitude.

She then took her position, awaiting the presentation of her trophy.

"And now, to present the award, we welcome last year's grand prize winner, Mr. Chandler Newton! Please give him a warm round of applause!"

Helen's heart skipped a beat at the mention of his name, and her expression momentarily faltered. Nevertheless, she quickly steadied herself, regaining her composure.

Moments later, Chandler made his way onto the stage. He accepted the trophy from the presenter and approached Helen, extending it to her.

"Thank you," Helen said, deliberately lowering her voice to give it a more rugged tone.

As Chandler glanced her way, he was captivated by her eyes. They felt so familiar, as if they belonged to someone he once knew.

He held the trophy tightly, reluctant to let it go, his gaze locked onto Helen's face. After a long moment, Chandler's deep voice broke the silence. "An old friend of mine used to wear the same perfume."

"Helly." Chandler suddenly reached out, trying to grasp her wrist.

Just before their skin could touch, Helen swiftly pulled away, stepping back two paces. With a serious expression, she shot back, "Do you really want to harass a pregnant woman? If anything happens to me, my husband won't take it lightly!"

"Pregnant?"

Chandler felt something inside him shatter, scattering his emotions like broken glass. His hand lingered in the air before he slowly retracted it, his eyes dimming.

Taking advantage of his momentary distraction, Helen quickly hailed a cab and climbed in.

As the car pulled away, her racing heart began to calm. But when she caught a glimpse of Chandler's forlorn figure in the rearview mirror, her expression grew increasingly somber.

"I'm sorry," she thought. "But keeping my distance is the best way to protect us all."
