The harsh beeping of the heart monitor was a relentless reminder that Cameron's life was slipping away. It was impossible to ignore.
Was Helen truly powerless to save the two people she cared about most?
The thought pierced her heart like a thousand blades, leaving her speechless with anguish. Her own sense of weakness only deepened her despair.
In the heavy shadow of death, Rainey knelt, her head bowed as tears streamed silently down her cheeks.
As Rainey's grief overflowed, Helen suddenly realized she was crying too.
Feeling the weight of their shared sorrow, Jenson turned away, unable to watch any longer.
At that moment, slow, deliberate footsteps approached from the doorway.
Helen turned to see someone standing in front of her, extending a syringe. Following the line of fluorescent light, she looked up and found Vincent, her brow furrowing with concern.
Sensing her hesitation, Vincent brought the syringe closer. "Take it. There are no strings attached. I'm giving it to you freely. It could save Cameron's life."
He knew Helen was reluctant to feel indebted to him. What he didn't realize was that she would do anything—absolutely anything—to save Cameron.
In that brief moment of uncertainty, Helen couldn't help but wonder why he had shown up just when she needed him.
However, with Cameron in critical condition, she didn't have the luxury of time to ponder. After a brief hesitation, she snatched the syringe and injected it into her left arm.
"Helen, no!" Jenson shouted, trying to intervene, but it was too late.
Thankfully, ten minutes later, Helen exhibited no signs of adverse effects. Thus, without wasting a moment, she injected Cameron with the same dose.
Outside the hospital room, Helen confronted Vincent, cutting to the chase. "Do you have more of that drug? Just name your price."
A knowing smile crept back onto Vincent's face. "Helen, I'm not interested in money."
"I can owe you a favor. If you ever need anything, just say the word," Helen replied, urgency evident in her tone. "Or if you have any conditions, I'll agree to them as long as they're within my power."
Vincent took a deep breath, standing tall as he casually stated, "I want you to divorce your husband and marry me."
Although Helen had expected this demand, she wasn't about to agree easily. "Absolutely not. I won't marry someone I don't love," she replied firmly.
A flash of impatience crossed Vincent's eyes. "It seems your love for Chandler isn't as strong as you've claimed."
Helen paused for a moment before responding calmly, "If it comes to that, I'd rather die with him."
