Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1457

"Since we got married, your words are getting sweeter by the day," Helen teased.

Chandler pulled her closer, wrapping his arm around her waist. "Well, that's all thanks to you. I've had my fill of sweetness, so naturally, I'm becoming sweeter too."

Helen's cheeks flushed, and she quickly pushed him away. "The door's still open!"

Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen—it was Kendrick calling.

After answering the call, she held the phone to her ear. "Is there a problem at the store?"

"You guessed it," Kendrick replied; there was an urgency in his voice. "Ms. Spencer, you need to come to the store and see it for yourself!"

"I've said it before—you're in charge of the store. You don't need to run every decision by me. So, what's the problem this time?" Helen asked, walking over to sit on the edge of the bed.

"This situation is different. If you don't come back, our jewelry store will be forced to close for good!" Kendric exclaimed, clearly agitated.

"For the past two weeks, Cunningham Jewelry has been going all out—flooding the market with aggressive marketing and selling genuine pieces at half the market price. As of today, we haven't had a single customer in the store, " he added.

"Didn't Johnny pass away? Who's running Cunningham Group and behaving this recklessly?" Helen asked.

"It's his daughter. She's even more outrageous than he was!" Kendrick vented.

"Fiona? I understand. I'll come back tomorrow and figure out a plan."

After a brief exchange, Helen hung up, staring blankly at her phone.

"Has Fiona been giving you a hard time again?" Chandler asked, sitting beside her and casually draping his arm over her shoulders.

"Of course not," Kendrick reassured her. "You've made it clear that we sell a brand. Even if we had to close, we can't compromise our standards or break industry norms; that would affect the entire market."

Helen nodded, placing the piece back on the counter. "Then it's settled. It's been a hectic time, so we might as well take this opportunity to give the staff a much-needed break. We'll pay their salaries as usual; let's see who can outlast whom," she said, smirking.

"Wait," she added, a spark of inspiration lighting her eyes. "Let's put the staff on paid leave. Starting tomorrow, all C&S Signature Jewels locations will close for renovations."

"What?" Kendrick exclaimed, sounding hesitant. "Ms. Spencer, you don't really think we're actually going to close down, do you?"

"What are you talking about?" Helen leaned against the counter, surveying the shop. "This small loss is insignificant for me, but we can't let such a great opportunity pass us by."

"Opportunity?" Kendrick initially appeared confused, but then his eyes brightened with realization. "You're right! With those low prices, Cunningham Jewelry is practically giving their pieces away!"
