Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1438

As Abigail worked on a modified race car with Taylor at the club, her phone suddenly vibrated. She glanced at the screen and saw a message from an unknown number.

"7:00 pm, Opal Avenue—Taylor."

A smile spread across her face, laced with curiosity.

Noticing her change in demeanor, Taylor leaned in. "Who's got you so intrigued?"

Abigail quickly tucked her phone away. "It's not your concern!"

"Sure, whatever," Taylor said, turning away. "I wasn't even that curious!"

After a moment, Abigail playfully draped her arm over his shoulder. "You poor thing! I have plans for drinks at 7:30 pm. Want to join?"

"Who's feeling sorry for whom?" Taylor shot back defensively. "My schedule is full tonight—no way I can make it!"

"Oh, I see," Abigail replied with a teasing nod. "I won't insist then. I'll head back to get ready. Bye for now!"

"Hey, we're only halfway through the car! You can't just leave!" Taylor called after her, but Abigail waved him off without looking back.

"If only she'd coax me a little more, I'd totally go with her!" he muttered to himself.

Later that evening, Abigail arrived at the private lounge as planned. As she opened the door, she saw Taylor wasn't there, just as she had expected. Instead, Caroline and a few other club members were inside.

"Abigail's here! Welcome, welcome!"

"Come on in, make yourself comfortable!"

A few guys pretended to be friendly as they led her to a seat next to Caroline.

Abigail calmly picked up a glass of wine and teased, "So, where's Taylor? I haven't seen him around."

They had expected Abigail to simply accept their unfair treatment in the name of camaraderie. Nonetheless, her tone suggested she wasn't about to let this slide. If Taylor found out how they were treating her, he would definitely have a problem with it.

The others exchanged anxious glances, unsure of how to proceed.

At that moment, Abigail stepped in to ease the tension. "I'll drink, but it's no fun to do it alone. I need someone to join me!"

The atmosphere relaxed instantly, and everyone let out a sigh of relief.

"Of course! You can choose anyone you want. Everyone's welcome to join you for a drink if that's what you prefer!"

"Actually, that's not necessary," Abigail replied with a playful smile. "I'd just like Caroline to join me. It's always more enjoyable to drink with another woman."

"Well—"
