Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1386

Inside the bridal suite of Hathaway Residence, Gloria sat on the bed, her face devoid of expression. Heavy shackles bound her hands and feet, a stark contrast to the pristine white wedding dress she wore.

Her stepmother, Sandra Plummer, wore a smug smile as she regarded her. "See? You're truly the young lady of the Hathaway family. With just a little makeup, you look absolutely radiant—like a blossoming flower.

"Just trust me, Gloria. Once you marry your husband, take good care of him and focus on strengthening the ties between our families. This way, our bond as mother and daughter will stay strong, and I'll always be here to support you."

Gloria's gaze remained icy, her expression emotionless. "You're not my mother, and you won't get what you want from my family!"

Sandra scoffed, unbothered by Gloria's defiance. "That's not your decision to make. Once you're married off, the Hathaway family will be mine to control."

With a mocking laugh, she closed the door behind her, leaving Gloria alone.

Gloria tightened her fists, her nails digging painfully into her skin.

"Ms. Spencer, you have to come! I'm counting on you! If not, I'll take matters into my own hands—I refuse to live in shame!" she thought determinedly.

As Sandra entered the living room, she heard the host announce loudly, "Our distinguished guests have arrived!"

Turning around, she spotted the host guiding a striking couple toward her.

"Mrs. Hathaway, congratulations!" Chandler said, stepping forward to extend his wishes.

"Thank you! And may I ask who you are?" Sandra replied, clearly having no recollection of him.

"They are distinguished guests from Glendale!" the host whispered conspiratorially. "They brought a gift—a diamond known as the 'Heart of the Desert.' It's truly a priceless treasure!"

"Thank you for the kind words!" Sandra laughed heartily, her joy overflowing.

What could be better? As a widow with her stepdaughter married off, she was perched atop a mountain of wealth. Life couldn't be more perfect.

However, as Helen discreetly glanced at Jeremy, her expression turned to one of concern. "Mr. Meyer, you look troubled. I fear you may face some difficulties, and financial loss seems inevitable."

The people of Grand Cathay were deeply superstitious. Helen's ominous words cast a shadow over the festive atmosphere, causing Jeremy's expression to darken immediately.

Mindful of Otto's presence, Sandra swiftly smoothed things over and led the pair to their seats.

Before long, the wedding ceremony officially commenced.
