The large room in Fletcher Residence was cloaked in darkness, with no light seeping through.
As the door creaked open, a shaft of light from the hallway poured in, illuminating the entrance and casting gentle shadows that outlined the blurred shapes of the furniture within.
A pair of polished leather shoes crossed the threshold and made their way to the large window. In an instant, the curtains were yanked open, and bright sunlight flooded the entire room.
Sadie was curled up in the corner, her head wrapped in a blanket. She appeared utterly terrified, her eyes vacant and unfocused.
"Look at you now. One little setback, and you're hiding away. This isn't the brilliant Sadie I once knew," Colin mocked, his voice laced with condescension as he looked down at her.
"I'm the laughingstock of all of Grand Cathay! Everyone's mocking me! Just get out! Leave me alone!" Sadie screamed, her composure visibly cracking.
Colin, however, looked intrigued. "You can't truly live without a touch of madness."
Crouching down, he extended his hand toward her. "Come on, I can help you. You're too smart to waste your potential like this. Take my hand, and I'll give you a new identity. Let me save you."
…
One bright afternoon, Helen received an intriguing message from Kyle. He had uncovered an underground casino in Windspire City overflowing with rare-colored emeralds.
Following the address, Chandler and Helen rushed to the casino, eager to discover what awaited them. As soon as they entered, they were greeted by a dazzling array of rare-colored emeralds.
The sheer volume was astounding; it looked as though every chip in the casino was crafted from these precious gems.
The two approached a staff member and stated their purpose clearly, "Hello, could you please inform the manager that we'd like to speak with them?"
Chandler echoed her bold move, going all in as well.
If they won this round, they'd walk away with half a year's worth of the casino's earnings. After much hesitation, the manager finally relented and gestured for them to follow. "Madam, please come with me to the VIP room for a brief respite."
With that, Helen and Chandler stood up and trailed after him into the VIP room.
Once they settled in, the manager had two cases of cash brought in and placed before them. He opened the cases, revealing stacks of bills.
"This is your winnings for the evening, plus an additional two million as a bonus. Our boss isn't here and prefers not to meet with men, so I apologize for that," he said, his tone respectful yet noticeably firmer than before.
Helen casually picked up a stack of cash, toying with it as she asked, "Is there any way we could meet her?"
