That kind of aching longing was something Madelyn never wanted to feel again. As she stood on the brink of tears, Mason finally pulled her into a warm embrace. "I'll follow your lead."
"Okay!" Madelyn sniffled, joy-filled tears streaming down her cheeks.
Little did she know that a truly healthy relationship wouldn't keep a woman mired in sadness.

Chandler watched the unfolding scene from his MPV parked outside the venue. He quickly pulled out his phone and texted Helen. "Ms. Void, do you want me to deal with this phony student of yours?"
He had recognized Helen's handwriting long ago but had chosen to remain silent about it.
After everything they had been through, Helen's various identities no longer mattered; all he knew was that she was his wife.
Reading his message, Helen turned her gaze to the large screen displaying "A Moonlit Night on the Spring River". Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she quickly replied, "It's alright; this task is too fun for me to pass up!"
On stage, Augustine spotted the badge and leaped up, pounding the table in excitement. "Are you really a student of Ms. Void?"
As soon as he spoke, every camera zoomed in on Sadie. Since the founding of the Calligraphy Association, Iris had disappeared from the public eye. Now, with a prized student emerging, the media couldn't help but pounce on the opportunity to cover it.
This sudden attention seemed to bolster Sadie even more. "Absolutely," she declared with her chin held high, almost convincing herself of her own lie. After all, wouldn't a lie eventually become the truth if it was repeated often enough?
As long as Iris didn't show up, possessing this badge meant that whatever she said would be accepted as fact.
"Mr. Lescher is here!" a volunteer announced from the doorway.
Under the scrutinizing eyes of the audience, Adam made his way to the head of the judges' table. As Augustine stepped aside, he quickly updated Adam on the situation.
"What?" Adam chuckled incredulously. "I can't believe someone has the nerve to pretend to be Iris' student! Where are they?"
"Right here on stage," Augustine replied, pointing to Sadie.
Adam casually scanned the stage, and as his gaze landed on a figure in the competition area, his eyes lit up. Although she had grown much taller since six years ago, her charm was unmistakable.
It was her—she had returned.
