If Scarlett could leverage Kiara to undermine Helen and Chandler's relationship, it would save her a lot of trouble.
With a clever glint in her eyes, Scarlett smiled warmly and gestured for Kiara to enter. "Ms. Randle, please, come in."
The two women, each harboring their own hidden agendas, walked side by side into the villa.
Upstairs, Helen was still peacefully asleep, completely unaware that two schemers had arrived at her doorstep.
Downstairs, Scarlett poured Kiara a cup of hot tea before taking a seat beside her.
"Ms. Randle, I assume you and Mr. Newton have a close relationship, right?" Scarlett asked, probing for information.
"Are Helen and Chandler not home?" Kiara replied, deftly avoiding the question.
"They aren't. At this time, Ms. Spencer should be at campus, and Mr. Newton is likely at the office. They're both quite busy," Scarlett improvised, drawing on the sweet nothings she'd overheard a couple of days ago.
Kiara let out a sigh of relief, casually crossing her legs. "Of course. I'm Aunt Priscilla's only goddaughter, and Chandler is her biological son—why wouldn't he treat me well? If it weren't for Helen swooping in, I'd already be Mrs. Newton."
Scarlett couldn't help but smirk at Kiara's audacity. How presumptuous to think it was all so straightforward.
Nonetheless, to stir the pot between Kiara and Helen, Scarlett reluctantly played along. "No wonder! I always thought you and Mr. Newton made a perfect couple. It's such a shame with all this drama—you two really seemed like a match made in heaven."
Scarlett's words struck a chord with Kiara.
Her eyes dimmed, and she let out a long, sorrowful sigh. Indeed, she and Chandler were a perfect match, receiving the blessings of both their families. Unfortunately, Helen had come along and shattered her chance at lifelong happiness.
Kiara's eyes widened in disbelief. "Are you saying that Helen and Ryan really have something going on?"
"I can't say for sure," Scarlett quickly clarified. "But Mr. Spade definitely snuck in through the back door after the reporters arrived!"
"It must be true then!" Kiara exclaimed, gripping Scarlett's hand with excitement. "You haven't mentioned this to Chandler, have you?"
"I did," Scarlett admitted with a sigh. "But Mr. Newton didn't believe me. He accused me of slandering Ms. Spencer and even threatened to kick me out."
At this, Kiara immediately released Scarlett's hand, her eyes narrowing as she scrutinized her. Suddenly, it hit her—Scarlett was intentionally stirring the pot.
"You have a thing for Chandler, don't you?" Kiara said smugly, letting out a mocking laugh. "How could you possibly believe someone like you stands a chance?"
