Helen laughed in disbelief. "It seems you have such strong moral principles, don't you? So what are you doing here, staying at the newlyweds' home? That seems rather hypocritical, doesn't it?"
"I'm just—" Scarlett began.
"Enough," Chandler interrupted, his expression stern. "You can leave now."
"Leave? Where am I supposed to go?" Scarlett snapped, frustration etched on her face.
"Anywhere. Just get out of my house," Chandler replied coldly.
"Are you really trying to kick me out?" Scarlett exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Chandler, can't you see I've been looking out for you this whole time? I'm here at your mother's request—how can you talk to me like this?"
"And how exactly should I address you?" Chandler retorted, his gaze turning even colder. "Should I put you on a pedestal like a prized candelabra?
"This is my wife's and my home. Neither my mother nor you have any authority here. I won't tolerate anyone speaking poorly of my wife. By tomorrow morning, I expect you to be gone."
With that, he wrapped his arm around Helen and climbed the stairs, leaving Scarlett to watch their sweet, intertwined silhouettes.
In her inherent pride, Scarlett couldn't tolerate such blatant dismissal. She stomped her foot in frustration and stormed out.
"Pathetic man, what makes you so special? I lowered myself for you, and yet you have the audacity to treat me this way? I'm done! Just wait—you'll regret this!" Scarlett muttered under her breath as she walked away.
She hailed a cab and headed straight to the bar district, where she spent the night.
Feeling uncomfortable under her scrutiny, Scarlett adopted a more assertive tone. "If you don't identify yourself, I'll have to call security to have you removed."
With an air of superiority, the woman finally introduced herself. "I'm Kiara Randle, Chandler's godsister."
Godsister?
Scarlett studied her closely, weighing the credibility of the claim. Kiara's attire clearly suggested she didn't come from an ordinary background.
As for the god-sibling claim, Scarlett knew exactly what Kiara was after—it was merely a facade to get closer to Chandler.
Technically, Kiara could be considered Scarlett's rival, but at this point, Helen was her greatest threat. Still, she recognized that shared interests could unite them against a common foe.
