Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1298

"You can say that easily because it's not your collection that is ruined." Ezra was not convinced. "Before acting generous at others' expense, you should see if you have the right to do so."

How was it possible for him to let it go when someone destroyed his precious possessions at his house?

Previously, Helen had expected that the person who appreciated her work would surely be easy to get along with. But upon seeing Ezra's current attitude, her imagination was instantly shattered.

There was no other reason; she was angry to see Ezra berating Chandler.

Helen suddenly forcefully removed Chandler's hand, which was holding her back. She strode forward and said confidently, "It's reasonable and fair to pay accordingly for the damaged personal belongings.

"Ashley has apologized to you and agreed to compensate, yet you refused to let her go and also insulted your guest. Is this the kind of demeanor you have?"

"Demeanor?" Ezra sneered. "Fine, I'll forgo the compensation, and she shall restore the painting to its original state. Is this the demeanor you're looking for?"

"What is done is done. Why do you have to ask for the impossible?" Helen stated indifferently.

"So you do know that it's impossible? I don't lack money, but this painting is the only one in this world. Every burst of inspiration of an artist is a new life, and she has committed murder by destroying my painting." Ezra became increasingly agitated, with veins bulging on his forehead.

Ashley lowered her head in silence. She deserved the scoldings for the trouble she had caused.

Ezra preferred to have the painting rather than money, but the painting was already ruined. It wouldn't mean much even if it was repaired, so the situation seemed to be in a deadlock.

Helen didn't expect Ezra to lose his temper over her painting, so it would be better for her to keep silent for the time being.

At this moment, Chandler proposed an idea. "Mr. Westbrook, if you don't mind, I have some valuable items in my collection.

"You can come to my house and choose a piece as a replacement, plus this lady's compensation to cover the damages. How about that?"

"Mr. Westbrook, I was just joking, and I have something to confess. It wasn't Ms. Guyton who knocked the painting over. I pushed her, causing her to knock into the display case and ruin the painting," Helen said with a forced smile.

"Helen…" Ashley looked up in confusion; her eyes were teary and filled with bewilderment.

They had stood side by side earlier, and from Helen's position, it was impossible to push Ashley from that angle. Ashley didn't want Helen to get into trouble because of her.

Helen subtly shook her head, signaling Ashley to stay quiet.

"Joke?" Ezra's tone grew colder. "You think Ms. Quarto's painting is a joke?"

"Calm down, calm down." Helen waved her hand, trying to soothe him. "I was frustrated to see you being deceived and decided to help out by destroying this counterfeit painting."

"You said that my painting is a counterfeit?" Ezra raised an eyebrow in suspicion.
