Anna didn't expect Samantha to be so popular here. She was surrounded by a group of noblewomen wearing high-end clothing who took turns toasting her. Wasn't she just a movie star? Why was she so popular?
What Anna didn't know was that Samantha didn't want her identity to overshadow her work, so she never mentioned it to anyone else in the entertainment industry. Hence, many didn't know about her illustrious background.
Anna assumed that Samantha merely happened to be more popular in this country.
With a specially made drink in hand, she cornered Samantha when she left the crowd, about to head to the restroom. Anna pretended she had come across her by coincidence.
She said with a smile, "I'm so happy to meet you here, Ms. Samantha. I've heard of you a long time ago but never had a chance to get to know you. Now that we've finally met, I hope you can give me this chance."
Samantha was feeling unwell after drinking too much, so she went to the restroom for a breather. Unexpectedly, Anna was here too, accosting her with an insincere greeting.
Anna had been far from cordial when her arm was looped around Shaun's, so why was she pretending to be nice now?
Samantha burped and said exasperatedly, "You don't need to be so polite to me, calling me Ms. Samantha and all that. If I recall correctly, you're much older than me, aren't you?"
Anna was stunned. That was true. She had claimed to be 22, but she was actually already 27.
"You're senior to me in this industry, so I should be polite," she said with a forced smile, stepping forward to help Samantha. "You seem to have had too much to drink. Here, have some soda. It'll help you sober up."
Anna handed the glass to her. Samantha had, indeed, had too much to drink, and she had drunk on an empty stomach, so she was feeling really unwell. She had wanted to push Anna away, but she was parched.
She looked at Anna doubtfully, and Anna smiled at her humbly. "Soda helps alleviate the drunken sensation. You should drink some. You'll feel better."
Samantha thought Anna didn't look like someone who'd mean her harm. She assumed that Anna was here to curry favor. She had met too many of such people.
Shaun's assistant worked with efficiency as always, delivering detailed information on Jameson Chase to him in no time.
Shaun sneered when he saw that Jameson's parents were both ordinary white-collar workers. As if he could provide well for Samantha when he came from such a humble background!
The disparity between Samantha's and Jameson's families was too huge. What about Jameson attracted Samantha?
Shaun lingered on the section about Jameson's romance history. He had previously dated Samantha, and they were together for a year before Shaun dated her.
Shaun's gaze darkened. It turned out that Samantha had gotten back together with her ex. She totally did this on purpose to anger Shaun.
Irked, Shaun tucked his phone away and looked in the direction where Samantha was earlier. He failed to find her, though. Jameson was standing in a corner somewhere while Millie was dancing.
