Hera and Samantha were spending time together on the beach in Lumiville for the afternoon.
"Let me see the ring again. This is really the last, last, last, last, last time ever." Samantha put her hands together while begging Hera.
Hera extended her left hand to Samantha in resignation. She had no idea how many times she had shown her ring to her.
Samantha cautiously took Hera's hand and began to examine the sparkling red diamond on her finger from every angle. The bright red diamond dazzled against the tattoos on the back of her hand, capturing anyone's attention instantly.
"Hera, are you aware of what I'm about to tell you?"
She stared at the diamond on Hera's hand longingly as she continued enviously, "This is a pigeon blood-red diamond. It's the most sought-after diamond of all diamonds, and it's not often found in the market. Some seasoned diamond collectors and many others in the diamond industry may not even have seen a red diamond, let alone the rarest of all—the pigeon blood-red diamond.
"I only heard of the rumors of this diamond, and it's my first time seeing it in person. Mr. Killian is always happy to spend lavishly on each of your presents."
Hera had heard her repeat these words so many times today to the point where she could recite word for word. But Samantha was right about one thing—Bernard was always willing to spend on presents for her.
Hera heard Bernard had dispatched Douglas and the others to mine this pigeon blood-red diamond from Astenia.
"Ask your man to give one to you," Hera teased.
"I wish! But there's only one Bernard Killian in this world. I'm so jealous of you. When will I meet my own Mr. Killian, who will propose to me? I want to get married now."
Samantha propped her chin on her hand. She became envious as she recalled the romantic scene of Bernard proposing to Hera last night.
"Didn't you get back with Shaun?" Hera questioned.
Samantha remembered how she had brazenly sought Shaun out to reconcile. In the end, she overheard his conversation with his friends.
"Isn't she just a woman? I can have as many as I like. She just so happens to be obedient and thoughtful, nothing like those shallow women who are after my money. Besides, I get along with her as well…"
Although so many years had passed, Samantha still felt as hurt as she did that year whenever she recalled the disdainful expression Shaun had while saying those words.
Samantha had already made up her mind to marry him and have children together. In the end, she found out that in his eyes, she was just an obedient and thoughtful woman whom he got along with.
It seemed like Shaun considered Samantha to be no different from those women at the bars.
Samantha became infuriated at that moment. Although she had dropped by to reconcile with him, she ended up breaking up with him for good on the spot.
