Giselle was so furious that she burst into a coughing fit. She was unable to overcome the fury of a few hundred former fans, so she had no choice but to log off Twitter. She assumed that doing that would help her avoid the verbal attacks from her former fans.
But Giselle had been too naïve. Her former fans quickly dug out her personal phone number and called her right away to tell her off.
At first, Giselle had no idea who the caller was and answered the call. After receiving a lecture, she immediately disconnected the call. From then on, she dared not to answer any calls from unknown numbers.
But that wasn't the end. When her former fans realized that Giselle wasn't picking up any calls, they began texting her, causing her phone to emit notifications non-stop. The endless alerts irritated Giselle so much that she switched off her phone.
Giselle went into another fit of violent coughs. She unfolded the tissue covering her mouth and saw blood. Frightened, she began banging against the ward door, shouting, "Anyone there?"
She had been isolated in this ward for about three hours, and the ward was locked from the outside. Aside from the nurse who brought her there before taking samples away for testing, no one else came to attend to her, let alone treat her.
Giselle learned of the diagnosis of her having tuberculosis through the internet. Initially, she believed that the media had stirred up that nonsense because the doctors hadn't informed her of the diagnosis results yet.
Besides, she was still healthy, and it was impossible that she would be so easily infected. However, the sight of blood caused her mental fortitude to crumble.
Giselle felt terrible. She hadn't even had breakfast before being dragged there. Aside from her rumbling tummy and her coughing fit, she was feeling very tired and weak.
"Hello, is anyone there? Can anyone hear me?" Giselle banged on the door, yelling at the top of her voice. However, half an hour passed without anyone responding to her.
Giselle was starving to the point where she felt like she could eat anything. She was feeling faint, and her vision blurred.
Finally, the ward door opened from outside. Two people dressed in protective gear from head to toe entered the ward, one of them holding a thermos flask.
Giselle was so hungry that she immediately snatched the flask over and opened it. All she saw was some kind of soup inside without any other ingredients. It was just plain soup.
After all, Thomas was here.
Giselle suppressed her arrogant behavior immediately. She wanted to pretend as if she were still Bernard's adored niece.
But she had a bad gut feeling when she heard about the new treatment method. Very quickly, she would find out that she was right.
"If you want to get better, you have to listen to what I have to say," Thomas said while gesturing for the nurse to leave.
The nurse returned with another flask containing the same soup as the first flask.
"This is the first course of your treatment," Thomas explained.
