Under the Heiress' Facade novel Chapter 941

"What are you working on?" Bernard walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. He glanced at the laptop screen and saw lines of code on it.

With just a quick look, he got the gist of it.

Dylan shifted the laptop screen closer to himself, not wanting Bernard to see it. "Is there something you need?"

"It's 10:30 pm. You should be sleeping." Bernard checked his watch.

Dylan scooted further to the other side of the bed. "Leave me alone."

Bernard could tell that Dylan didn't like him as much as Dora.

"I'm your father. If I don't look out for you, who will?" Bernard huffed.

"You think just because you contributed your sperm, that makes you my dad?" Dylan retorted.

Bernard realized Dylan was still upset about his absence for the past five years.

Bernard responded patiently, "I'm sorry for missing out on your childhood. I promise I'll make it up to you both. Will you give me a chance?"

"Then you have to start by never hurting Mom again!" Dylan demanded.

Bernard couldn't help but feel proud of how protective Dylan was of Hera. He promised, "That kind of thing won't ever happen again!"

Dylan shot him a skeptical look, surprised that Bernard was being so agreeable. It wasn't like him at all.

"Now, can you go to sleep?" Bernard asked.

"I'll sleep in a bit." Dylan ignored him and continued to type on his laptop.

Suddenly, Bernard snatched the laptop away. Dylan panicked. "What are you doing?"

Bernard didn't answer. He placed the laptop on his lap and quickly began typing on the keyboard.

Dylan remained silent.

"You've only scratched the surface of what your mom has taught you. You'll need to work much harder if you want to make a name for yourself," Bernard continued.

He hit the "Enter" key. Instantly, the screen turned blue, then went black. "Go to sleep. The laptop will reboot at 7:00 am tomorrow. I've set up a challenge for you. If you can break it, I'll teach you more."

Dylan grabbed his laptop and tried to turn it back on. But no matter what he did, it wouldn't boot up. Bernard had locked it down.

"Go to bed," Bernard said, taking the laptop and placing it on the desk. This time, Dylan didn't resist and lay down quietly.

Bernard tucked him in. "Goodnight."

Bernard returned to the western wing and found Hera in the kitchen. He walked in. "The kids are asleep. Are you making a midnight snack? Are you hungry?"
