After Bernard placed the order, he said, "Your body is still very weak, so you can't eat those things yet. I've ordered some soup for you, with beef bits in it. I'll make whatever you want once you're out of the hospital."
Hera clicked her tongue. Then why did he even ask?
30 minutes later, Bernard's phone rang. He stepped out and returned with a takeout box from the Imperial Hotel. Setting the box on the table, he raised Hera's hospital bed and placed a pillow behind her.
Hera's stomach growled from the aroma. "Hurry, I want to eat."
"I'll feed you." Bernard washed his hands and opened the box. He took one scoopful of soup and blew on it gently before offering it to Hera.
Hera didn't hesitate to take a bite. The delicious taste danced on her taste buds. This must be what happiness tasted like.
After finishing the soup, Hera was satisfied. Having just slept, she couldn't fall back asleep again, so she asked Bernard to fetch some acupuncture needles from the alternative medicine department. She wanted to give herself some treatment to relieve the pain.
However, after eating and with the hospital room heated, she started to sweat. "I'd like to take a shower."
"No, your wounds can't get wet. I can give you a sponge bath instead." Without waiting for a reply, Bernard quickly went to the bathroom to prepare, moving so fast that Hera wasn't sure if he was eager to be helpful or had ulterior motives.
Moments later, Bernard returned with a basin, looking at her eagerly. "Can you take off your clothes? Do you need my help?"
Hera remained silent.
Seeing her remain still, Bernard set the basin on the table and dried his hands before helping her undress. "What's wrong? Are you shy? Is there any part of you I haven't already seen?"
"You're shameless!" Hera feigned annoyance but allowed him to help with the undressing and bathing.
