Hera instantly jolted awake at the news. "When and where was she kidnapped?"
She immediately got out of bed and rushed to the study. In her haste, she accidentally stepped on Tiramisu's foot, causing it to squeal loudly.
Hera quickly opened her computer. While it was booting up, she picked up Tiramisu and placed it on her lap to comfort it.
"About 20 minutes ago, Everly came to the neighborhood looking for me. Mrs. Jones went ahead to the clinic by herself. As soon as she left the neighborhood, a van suddenly stopped, and two men came out and took her away!" Wayne's anxious voice came through the phone.
"I've already called the police. They're checking the neighborhood surveillance for the license plate number.
"If only I had remembered the license plate..." Wayne sounded remorseful and even suspected Everly's timing had been intentional. Catherine wouldn't have been kidnapped if he hadn't let Catherine go ahead on her own.
"Bring the car to the clinic and pick me up." Hera hung up the phone. She inserted a USB drive into the computer, and strings of code quickly appeared on the screen.
At the same time, she tried calling Catherine. Although the call connected, no one answered.
Hera remained emotionless, but the air around her grew cold. Even Tiramisu, who had been whining and seeking attention, sensed the shift in her mood. Now, it lay quietly on her lap, not daring to move.
Soon, Hera successfully hacked into the neighborhood's surveillance system and found the footage of the van at the gate. The license plate was from Norburgh.
She swiftly accessed the traffic monitoring system and tracked the direction in which the van had left.
Just then, the sound of a car horn came from outside.
Hera gently set Tiramisu down before rushing back to her room. She quickly changed into new clothes and grabbed her phone, acupuncture kit, and laptop.
At the clinic, Isla and Sarah had just arrived for work. They saw Hera rushing out with her laptop and looked at each other, puzzled.
"Is something wrong with Hera?" Isla asked.
