"Gideon, you're here," Amelia said with a smile as she walked out of the kitchen. "Take a seat first. The last dish is almost ready. Eli, please pour a drink for Mr. Everett."
"Will do." Eli hurriedly picked up the other chocolate milk tea and followed the plan by handing it to Gideon. "Mr. Everett, please have this milk tea before the foam melts."
Dora immediately snatched the milk tea upon seeing what Eli did.
"What's going on?" Eli inquired.
"You can't let him drink this," Dora whispered.
Baffled, Eli asked in a low voice, "Didn't you say that they would get closer after drinking this?"
"I…" Dora faltered. She really shot herself in the foot this time. After all, Dora truly didn't want to be cousins with Eli. However, she had already promised to help him.
She suddenly recalled something. "Uncle Gideon doesn't like having sweet drinks."
"But didn't you say that these drinks would play an important role tonight?" Eli retorted. If Gideon didn't drink the milk tea, nothing would happen.
Dora exclaimed, "But you didn't tell me that the man we're tricking is my biological uncle!"
Eli remained silent for a moment. It was wrong of him not to mention ahead of time that Gideon was the man he wanted as his father. But did that really matter?
"So, what should we do now?" he asked.
While Dora was hesitating, Gideon assumed she wanted that milk tea and said, "If Dora wants that drink, she can have it. I'm fine having something else."
Dora watched Gideon set down the fruit basket and was worried that he would reach for the other two milk teas on the table. Hence, she quickly handed the bubble tea she was holding to him. "No, no. You should have this, Uncle Gideon."
There were five dishes and a pot of stew for dinner. It was Eli's first time having such a luxurious spread of food for dinner at home. Since he was dining with his favorite people in the world, he was having a delightful time.
It was Gideon's first time trying Amelia's cooking. He never expected her to have such excellent culinary skills. Since her food tasted like home, he couldn't help but eat more.
Gideon often had to socialize with clients by dining at the hotel. Plenty of seasonings had been added to the food, which he wasn't a fan of. He would only eat a small portion to tide himself over when he was far too hungry. Otherwise, he wouldn't eat outside at all.
Amelia watched Gideon tucking into his food ravenously. She suddenly felt busying herself in the kitchen for the whole afternoon was very worth it.
It wasn't Amelia's first time preparing dinner for Gideon. She used to cook meals for him back when she stayed at his place. However, he didn't eat her food and even asked her not to waste her efforts on these matters.
She couldn't help but feel secretly happy to see him eating so much food. She unconsciously began to eat more as well.
Dora was the only one who seemed distracted and didn't seem to enjoy the meal.
