It was January 15, and the Thompsons were filled with excitement.
Samantha was the first guest to arrive at the venue. She believed that as long as she dropped by early, no one would even know she went there. After all, she didn't want to embarrass herself.
After presenting her invitation card, a maid led Samantha to the main seat at the banquet hall, where Alex was seated. Beside him were Sandra and several other ladies of the Thompson family.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Thompson Senior," Samantha greeted him obediently with a smile.
"Nice to meet you too. You are…" Alex didn't recognize her, but Sandra and the other Thompson ladies did.
Sandra once had lunch with Samantha. Back then, Samantha was the only girlfriend Shaun had ever brought back home to meet Sandra. Moreover, Samantha was also Shaun's longest relationship.
While Samantha and Shaun were still dating, he even asked Sandra, "If my child takes after their mother's last name, would Grandpa lose his mind?"
At that moment, Sandra was rather taken aback. Of course, she wasn't shocked about her potential grandchild taking a different last name. It was the idea of Shaun starting to entertain the thought of marrying and having children.
It seemed to Sandra that Shaun was very serious about Samantha. Before Sandra could be happy for long, they broke up, and Sandra had no idea why.
Later, Sandra felt Shaun had changed completely. He no longer spent his days partying excessively, and he stopped changing girlfriends every few days. Instead, he remained single until now. Sometimes, Sandra suspected that another soul had taken over his body, just like what happened in the novels.
At some point, Sandra even considered bringing a priest over to exorcize Shaun. However, the practical Alex disregarded the idea.
However, Sandra was still rather happy that Samantha had dropped by the party.
They could only secretly compare the gifts presented at Alex's birthday party while trying to curry favor with him.
Brook accepted the gift box. He opened it before showing it to Alex. Several exquisite bottles were inside, each labeled with three words—"Emergency Heart Medication".
"Emergency heart medication?" one of the women asked disdainfully.
"Things like that are available at every pharmacy. Did Ms. Steele forget to buy a present and decide to randomly drop by the pharmacy to buy the medication?"
"I don't think she bought it. There's no logo on the box. Who knows if it's safe to consume?"
