The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 625

The moment Sierra said those words, Sophia was stunned. She immediately let go of her and said, "Sierra, calm down. It's always safest to keep your money in your own hands.

"Even though your parents came with you to Dithoria State, the businesses your family owns are still the result of their hard work. Don't give it all up just because you're upset with Samuel."

"See, Sophia? That's the difference between you and Samuel," Sierra said, her smile more heartbreaking than her tears.

She explained, "Samuel actually built a successful business overseas. He's done well for himself and made good money. But when I returned to Amberton, and we did the DNA test confirming I was my parents' daughter, Samuel kept saying he didn't care about the Remington estate. Still, everything he said hinted that he wanted it.

"The same went with Sinclair Group. At first, he claimed it meant nothing to him, saying he didn't want it, but he totally changed once we got back to Dithoria State. I don't know how someone can flip like that... unless he'd been pretending the entire time we were abroad."

Sierra's eyes turned red, and tears slipped down before she could stop them. Sophia handed her a tissue, and Sierra tried to smile through it, but it looked more pained than the tears themselves.

Sierre mumbled through tears, "Sophia, I'm sorry. I was overseas all these years and never did anything to help you or Ms. Blair. I really am sorry."

"You didn't hurt me, so what are you apologizing for?" Sophia said as she wiped away Sierra's tears. "Sierra, just make sure this is what you truly want."

"I've thought it through," Sierra replied bitterly. "Compared to a lifetime of fear and disgust every time I think about him, I'd rather deal with the short-term pain of ending it now. Sophia, don't worry about me."

"How could I not worry about you?" Sophia's eyes started to water too. "When Mom brought you home to the Sinclairs, I was so happy. I'd always wanted an older sister, and you were the one who made that dream come true."

She added, "My relationship with Samuel was never good to begin with, even when we were kids. Once we got older, it just got worse. Sierra, I just want you to be happy."

Sierra replied, "And I want you to be happy, too."

They both laughed softly at that, and this time, the laughter was genuine.

After the laughter faded, Sierra took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions. She said, "My parents only found me because of Mr. Holden, so they respect him a lot. They won't allow anyone to insult or slander him. And I'm thankful to Mom for bringing me home. Maybe I inherited my parents' sense of gratitude.

"But Samuel? I think he inherited all the worst traits from Ivan. I don't want my future child to grow up to be like him. So, it's better to rip off the bandage now than live with the wound forever."

Sophia replied, "Sierra, if you've made up your mind, then you've got my full support."

"Alright. Thank you."

By this point, everything had been said. They had opened up and laid it all on the table, making Sierra feel so much lighter inside. "Alright, let's finish our coffee and meet up with Mom and Dad outside."

"Yeah, sounds good."

They continued sipping their coffee, mostly to keep themselves grounded. By the time they finished, their emotions had settled.

Sierra finally smiled—really smiled this time. "Sophia, Mr. Holt's a good guy."

Sophia agreed, "I know. Zachary's wonderful. I just worry I'm not good enough for him."

"That's not true," Sierra said, reaching out to hold her hand. "You're amazing, Sophia. Don't sell yourself short."

"We both deserve the best."

"Yes, we both do."
