Chapter 974
Elise quickly got to her feet, still looking like a mess.
She shot a hurt look at Shaun. “Mr. Lane…”
Shaun, sitting next to Halsey, lifted his cool eyes and said calmly, “You suddenly lunged at me just now, so I dodged.”
Halsey smiled quietly.
Elise was furious; she knew Halsey was laughing at her. Clenching her fists, she snapped, “What are you laughing at?”
Halsey glanced at her and said, “Isn’t that obvious? I’m laughing at you.”
Elise frowned. “Are you so happy that I fell? Why are you making it hard for a fellow woman here?”
Halsey smirked.
“Stop right there. That wasn’t any fall-you were trying to jump into a man’s arms. What, you failed and now you want to take it out on me?” Her bright eyes swept across the crowd. “Besides, I’m not the only one laughing at you. So why pick on me?”
Elise was speechless. She hadn’t expected Halsey to be so sharp-tongued.
She spat, “I fell, and now everyone’s laughing. If you’re so brave, why don’t you get up there and dance?”
Elise was trying to rile her up.
Shaun’s brows twitched as he looked at Halsey beside him. “You’re pregnant now. You can’t dance up there.”
“I bet you can’t dance, anyway,” Elise sneered. “Not everyone can.”
Halsey smiled. “Are you so sure I can’t dance?”
Elise shot back, “If you can, then get up there and dance!”
Halsey stood up. “Fine. I’ll dance right now.”
Shaun grabbed her wrist. “No. You’re not going.”
He wasn’t letting her dance.
Halsey looked at Shaun. “Just let me go. Tonight’s the perfect chance to teach her a lesson and show her what real dancing looks
like.”
With that, she firmly pulled her wrist free.
Shaun was clearly annoyed, but with so many people watching, he didn’t push back. He had to hold his tongue.
