The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage novel Chapter 2674

The mob smiled in wry amusement. "Who cares what you're called? Just tell us the truth right now—how did it go?"

Lassie shook his head. "I couldn't find it. Just hold her here—don't take any offers as long as she refuses to meet our price. Hell, just keep raising it."

Everyone nodded.

On the other hand, Frank waited until Lassie left and found Jeeves again, saying, "Sir, I really can't tell what you're all trying to achieve here!

"You said you don't want the broad to acquire the street, but she's not. She's just compensating us…"

Jeeves laughed. "You're so naive. This is basically a natural disaster, so why is that broad compensating us and not the government? In the end, she's trying to play a good Samaritan so that she can strong-arm us into selling our property once she's paid us.

"What would people think of us if we don't agree to whatever she's offered? It's obviously emotional blackmail!"

At that point, Frank understood Jeeves' concern—the mob of property owners were concerned that Jada would use her grace against them.

Nodding, he said, "That makes sense, but isn't the property here tradeable? I mean, my family bought one too!"

In reality, he had no idea if it was, but judging from what Jeeves said and how the property owners here were concerned, it could definitely change hands.

"Well, yes." Jeeves nodded. "But not this location. This land lot especially must not change hands."

"Why?"

"You wouldn't be aware, but the elders had always said that this was a garrison. Have you heard of the term?"

Jeeves was glowering right then. "Do you take us for fools? Can archaeologists be trusted?! And if she digs out the good stuff, we'd be given lint at best, so why should we be her suckers?"

Frank smiled in wry amusement. "You're being swindled by the internet!

"First and foremost, the government bans the trade of any artifact around the Renaissance period and earlier. However, you can do anything you like with your findings, only if you can prove how you acquired it.

"Also, those treasures are from a dynasty long past and a keepsake of your ancestors. Only fools will try to steal it from you—rest assured that they would just splurge to buy it and wouldn't stoop to theft."

Jeeves kept shaking his head, still skeptical.

As such, Frank decided to switch angles. "Well, why don't you show it to me? I promise I won't betray anyone, but I'll spice up the details when I inform that specialist. As long as she doesn't come here personally, there's no risk of being exposed, don't you agree?"
