Scarlett had never given Kyleigh a single penny. Kyleigh had raised Pearly, which meant it was Pearl who owed it to Kyleigh to perform her filial duties. It had nothing to do with Scarlett.
Some might say that she was cruel or coldblooded, but she just couldn't bear to see that old woman or her sons or grandsons having a good life.
If Pearl had not gone back to visit Kyleigh without Scarlett's knowledge, Pearl and her husband wouldn't have died near Kyleigh's house.
They had been so close to the house. The residential community had been right around the corner.
But the two of them had lost their lives in a spot merely hundreds of yards away from home.
Furthermore, Kyleigh had bought Pearl to raise her only because Kyleigh was childless. After giving birth to her own children, Kyleigh had never stopped trying to bleed Pearl dry.
During the incident in which Pearl had been trafficked, Kyleigh, as the buyer, was not completely blameless.
"Scarlett, can we stop here and go for a walk?"
"Alright."
Scarlett agreed and told the chauffeur to pull over.
There were idlers everywhere in the countryside. At the sight of the two shiny luxury cars suddenly pulling over, a group of people playing cards at the roadside subconsciously looked at Scarlett and the others.
Though the road had been repaved once, it had long since been damaged and was now very bumpy. The road surface was thirty centimeters higher than the floor of the roadside store.
The car was parked by the roadside. At this hour, there were many vehicles and people on the street. Scarlett got out of the car through the door facing the store lest she bump against Rowan.
"Be careful, Rowan. This flight of steps is a bit steep."
Their outfits were seemingly ordinary but exuded an air of fine texture. Also, they had a temperament peculiar to the upper class. People could tell at a glance that they were no common persons.
One of those at the card table suddenly said, "Those guys are moneybags."
"Of course they are. Look at their cars."
"F**k! Never in all my life have I seen such a hot chick! Gormend Suer, how do you think it feels to get on top of her?"
Gormend, who had been nudged, made no response. He just squinted at the group of people who had just gotten out of their cars.
He felt that the young woman looked very familiar. Before this day, he had seen only one woman as good-looking as this one...
The longer he looked at her, the more strongly he felt that she resembled his cousin, Scarlett!
