When Scarlett got home, her grandfather had not gone to bed yet. Rowan was sitting alone on the sofa in the living room. Seeing Scarlett come back, Rowan's features unfrowned a bit, "Is it settled?"
Scarlett smiled and nodded her head," Everything is settled. It’s not a big deal."
"That's good. It's late. Go take a shower and go to bed."
"Okay, Grandpa. Good night."
"I'm going to bed, too." Rowan glanced at Yair as he said so. The assistant had worked with Rowan for many years. Yair glanced at Scarlett, and then he followed Rowan into his room. He knew his boss' intentions.
"Yair, what was going on?"
Yair thought of what Scarlett had just told him earlier. After all, he didn't tell Rowan the truth. "It’s a misunderstanding. That man didn't meant for us. He had a conflict with another car just like ours earlier. He thought it was us. After Ms. Reed explained it to him, he apologized to us."
The explanation made sense.
Scarlett's grandfather's stared at Yair for a few seconds. At last, Rowan said, "All right. Thank you, Yair. It's late. Go to have a good rest."
"Yes, Mr. Tank. Good night."
"OK."
Yair then went to the study and collected his things. Then he was ready for a shower and going to bed.
Scarlett woke up early the next morning. She had spent the last few days walking around with her grandfather, and she had slept well at night.
Today they were going to the countryside. Scarlett had not contacted with the Bookers since the last unpleasant incident.
It was nearly a two-hour drive from the town to the countryside.
Scarlett hadn't been back to this place since her parents moved to town with her. It had been 15 years.
The village hadn't changed much after all these years, except that the roads were much smoother and some of the houses along the road had been rebuilt. The village looked neater and better than it did fifteen years ago.
On their way to the village, Scarlett looked out the car window at the road and buildings. The village was still undeveloped.
Fifteen years had passed, and the country had advanced a lot. But the village hadn't changed much, except for wider roads and some new houses.
On both sides of the main road of the village were old houses. They were grocery stores, fast food stalls, toy stores, and small shopping malls. But these stores were dingy and the decoration was very old.
At the end of the main road was the Booker house where Pearl grew up. When Kyleigh learned that Scarlett got rich, she once took Rocco to ask for money from Scarlett.
