Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 160

Eloise was deeply touched.

After graduation, Vanessa had given her a lot of help. Vanessa was a great mentor and friend in her life.

Looking at Vanessa's retreating figure, Eloise felt a sense of unease.

She thought for a moment, then went to the front desk.

"Can you check Ms. Vanessa's recent attendance for me?"

The receptionist agreed with a smile.

In less than five minutes, the record was out. It showed that Vanessa had been taking a day off every three days in the past half month.

Eloise's unease deepened.

But since Vanessa hadn't said anything, it felt wrong to pry into her private affairs. So, at work, Eloise took on more tasks...

After work, Harvey called Eloise.

Eloise understood what he meant and quietly said "okay" into her phone.

Eloise went downstairs and got into the car.

She looked down at her red wool dress, covered with a thin white coat.

No matter how you looked at it, it seemed meticulously prepared.

She blushed a bit.

What was the difference between this and serving herself up to him on a silver platter?

She didn't dare to think about it, so she stepped on the gas and drove off.

When she arrived at Harvey's apartment, Eloise thought he'd be eager, but it turned out he was really busy.

The suitcase was in the living room, but Harvey was in the study. He was on the phone, seemingly discussing a new case.

He looked at Eloise with a deep gaze, but his tone was severe with the person on the other end. He didn't hold back at all.

Eloise felt a bit troubled.

This side of him was completely different from the Harvey she spoke to on the phone last night.

She felt confused.

Harvey covered the phone and softly said to her, "The housekeeper has bought some ingredients. Cook something simple. I haven't had lunch yet."

Eloise silently headed towards the kitchen.

Harvey watched her retreating figure, his gaze deep.

Eloise hadn't been here for a long time. When she opened the fridge, the food inside had been replaced.

She started cooking, preparing a few of Harvey's favorite dishes.

Her state of mind was different from before.

Eloise thought, she didn't know when Harvey would get tired of her and seek out new excitement.

Suddenly, someone hugged her from behind.

Harvey gently bit her neck, his voice soft, "Will you blame me for taking advantage of your vulnerability?"

Eloise didn't push him away.

She was here to satisfy him and make him happy.

"If I did, would you let me go?" she whispered back.

Harvey chuckled, didn't answer, but flirted with her instead, "How did you like what I sent you last night? Want to hear the live version?"

Eloise bit her lip.

She really didn't expect a man to be so uninhibited!

And this man was Harvey!

She ignored him and brought the food to the dining room.

Harvey didn't get mad. He watched her bustling around and suddenly felt very content.

It seemed like the apartment was complete with Eloise in it.

He ate his meal in a very orderly manner.

But after the meal, he broke the rules and went to the bar to get two glasses of red wine.

Eloise looked up at him.

Harvey smiled languidly, "What, you want to get started right away?"

Eloise didn't want to make any overly romantic gestures with him. Harvey's charm was irresistible and she feared she wouldn't be able to resist. So, pretending to be casual, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his chin, asking, "Isn't this what you want?"

Harvey didn't want to start so soon, but he was a normal man and couldn't resist such temptation.

His gaze deepened, wanting to play a more romantic game.

As he spoke, he became emotional again, so he held her tightly and passionately kissed her cheek, his words muffled.

"Eloise... would you like to meet my parents this year?"

Eloise was stunned.

She knew Harvey liked her, both her personality and her body.

But he didn't believe in marriage!

She didn't take his words about starting their relationship over seriously.

But now he seemed to be serious!

Eloise wasn't sure, at least she wasn't planning to spend the rest of her life with him just because he helped her once. It was too fast... and they were having a big problem with their sex life.

Harvey had a strong desire, and she didn't think he could hold back.

Eloise gently pushed him away, got up and turned her back to him.

Harvey remained in his original position, watching her...

After a long time, Eloise spoke softly, "Harvey, this is all I can give you! Either let me go, or hold on a bit, it'll be over soon."

Harvey embraced her from behind, reluctantly biting her ear, "I'm serious!"

Eloise chuckled, saying, "Harvey, I'm serious! Your sweet nothings, they're charming and heart-stirring, but I can't play this game anymore!"

Her voice quivered as she spoke.

Harvey was never one to feel sorry for women, but this time, he felt a pang of pity for her.

He turned her towards him.

As expected, there were some tears in the corners of Eloise's eyes…

Her voice shaking, she said, "Harvey, I can't play this game anymore!"

She had given her all to him.

But the harsh reality kept reminding her that Joan Lynch was an insurmountable barrier between them.

Joan and Harvey shared a rare blood type. Griffin was not only an old buddy of Parker Horigan's but also saved Orlena's life...

If Joan wasn't letting go, on what grounds could Eloise fight for him, and where could she seek happiness?

If there's no hope in sight, she'd rather not have it at all!
