Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 151

The next day, Eloise clocked off from work early. There was an art banquet tonight, and both she and Callum were invited. They agreed to meet at the hotel.

The receptionist greeted her with a smile, "Ms. Laurent, you look stunning today!"

Eloise was in high spirits. She pressed the elevator button and stepped in, but froze as soon as she entered.

Harvey was in there. He was leaning against the elevator wall, his face a picture of indifference. Clearly, he had been waiting for a while.

Eloise instinctively wanted to step out, but Harvey was quicker.

With a thud… her body was pushed against the elevator wall. Eloise dared not move an inch, as Harvey's arm was blocking her chest. Any slight movement would seem like she was putting herself on display for him. She could only glare at him and ask, "What's going on, Attorney Horigan?"

Harvey looked at her with a deep gaze. "Are you dressed like this for the banquet? With Callum?"

Eloise tried to suppress her anger, "Attorney Horigan, we broke up. Who I go to the banquet with, or who I date with is my business."

Harvey released Eloise and took a step back. "Do you like him? Are you happier with him than you were with me? Eloise, I don't believe you've forgotten me!"

Eloise's eyes turned red. She and Harvey had indeed had a sweet life together, during which she was immersed in his mature charm. Fame and desire brought her immense excitement. Eloise thought, no girl could resist such gentle advances, so falling for Harvey was all too easy.

He was always so clingy, just wanting to possess her. When she asked him if he loved her, he said, "Eloise, I'm sorry, I can't give you what you want!"

Actually, it wasn't that he couldn't give it. He just didn't want to!

Eloise said awkwardly, "Harvey, you were the one who dumped me. What's the point of saying all this now?"

The elevator started to move downwards, making a soft noise. Time seemed to pass slowly, which was unbearable for Harvey. After what felt like forever, Harvey finally spoke, his voice hoarse. "Eloise, I want you!"

Eloise looked up sharply, staring at him.

Harvey repeated, "I want you!"

Eloise paled. She wasn't happy at all, but rather, felt sad. "Harvey... you only want me now because I'm with Callum! If I hadn't started dating, if I were still single, you'd just be playing Truth or Dare with me in some private room, or have a one-night stand with me on a whim!"

With her nose turning red, Eloise's voice got sadder, "You don't love me. It's just your pride talking."

Just then, the elevator doors opened. Eloise walked out straight away. She walked rather fast, like she was running away from something. She and Harvey had been apart for a while, but he was her first love after all. Those short few months with him were like a colourful movie. Every night, the master bedroom was filled with passion.

How could she possibly forget all that?

Eloise got into her car, with her hands gripping the steering wheel shaking. At this moment, her hatred for Harvey was deeper than when he said he couldn't give her what she wanted! What was he playing at?

If you say you don't want it, then just give it up. But when you start missing it, you want to pick it back up again. What did he take Eloise for?

However, no moment had made her realise more clearly that she still liked Harvey! Eloise leaned back in her chair, feeling powerless.

Eloise was amused by his words, having a mix of laughter and tears. She wiped away her tears, silently staring out of the car window. She took half an hour to digest the impact Harvey had on her, then prepared herself for a perfect evening.

Eloise arrived at the banquet hall. Callum hadn't arrived yet, Eloise saw Riley and Veronica, they were dressed in matching outfits and were dancing.

Veronica's status naturally drew attention, inevitably causing people to talk, and Riley was known as a playboy in the Peterborough circle.

Eloise was worried Veronica was gonna stir the pot. She hung out in the corner of the party for a bit, then her phone buzzed. It was Callum on the line.

He was all apologetic, saying he might not make it tonight, something popped up at home. Eloise was mixed up about it, but it was probably for the better. After hanging up, she was about to give Veronica the heads up that she was making an early exit. But before she could blink, the dance floor turned into a full-on circus. The main acts were Riley and Gunner.

Gunner showed up in his pajama, it was clear as day he came in a hurry. He was going toe to toe with Riley, even throwing punches!

Riley was a buff sports junkie, how could Gunner possibly stand a chance? In no time, Gunner was a hot mess, blood flying everywhere.

Inside the party room, the girls were screaming their heads off. And Veronica, the main lady of the drama, was just standing there, cold as ice, as if Gunner wasn't her husband!

The party was hosted by some bigwig from the Peterborough art scene. While the place was chaos, even the hotel security had to step in.

Riley and Gunner's brawl made them instantly infamous. The whole thing blew up, making headlines in Peterborough, it just wouldn't die down.

Veronica's reputation took a hit because of it.
