Chapter 354
Chapter 354
He seriously suspected that Widi had come over just to pick a fight.
“What’s wrong with the bird? Can’t you appreciate the connection between people and nature? Jeremy refuted.
“Connection with nature?” Widi rolled her eyes. “Do you have any idea how many germs wild animals carry?
“This one’s not wild.” Jeremy glanced around, then pointed at a birdcage with its door open. “It’s from the hotel. They keep them here.”
He figured since Widi was just worried about Yvonne, he didn’t argue.
But in Widi’s eyes, he was just incredibly irresponsible, which made her even angrier.
“Just because it’s from the hotel doesn’t mean it’s germ–free! Did you personally see the hotel staff disinfect the bird? Widi confronted.
Jeremy was momentarily stunned by her barrage of questions. He looked at her suspiciously, wondering, ‘Did she wake up on the wrong side of the bed?‘
Just as he was about to retort, the little bird held in Widi’s hand twisted its head and pecked at the back of her hand.
Widi cried out in pain and let go. The bird happily flew back to Yvonne and started trying to crawl into her shirt again.
Jeremy laughed, clearly enjoying himself as he watched Widi holding her hand in pain. “See? You called it dirty, and now it’s mad at you.”
Widi Adler glared at him again. The look on his face was so annoying she could hardly stand it.
She rubbed her hand and thought, ‘Damn it, I really want to slap him.
‘He is such a useless guy. He can’t even take care of a child. Yvonne is getting filthy running around all day, and he doesn’t seem to care about basic hygiene!
If Jeremy could hear her thoughts, they would definitely be fighting again.
Yvonne had been quietly watching them argue the whole time, unable to get a word in.
Now that there was finally a break, she reached into her shirt and gently pulled out the bird.
She spoke with exaggerated seriousness, but her words came out in a soft, childish voice that held no authority. “You bit people, so I’m not playing with you anymore.”
The bird tweeted loudly, as if saying, “What? I didn’t bite. It’s just a tiny peck! And that human said I carry gems! But I’m not dirty at all!”
Yvonne certainly didn’t understand bird talk. She let go of it, told it she wouldn’t play with birds that bit, and turned away.
The bird chirped sorrowfully.
The cute little girl looked firm in her decision. The poor bird tried to win her back, rubbing against her fingers and even pulling out a feather to give her as a gift.
The teenage boys were all touched when they saw it, saying, “Aww, that’s so sweet. Who would’ve thought that Yvonne and the bird could form such a deep bond in a short time? This is the connection between people and nature.”
Widi immediately dismissed all the nice things she had thought about them earlier and started roasting them silently in her

mind. Why does their speech sound so robotic, like it’s been churned out mechanically from a template,
‘And what is even so touching about this? That bird is clearly just playing innocent. Maybe it might peck Yvonne too, just like it did to me
Imagining that scene, Widi grabbed the bird, stuffed it into Jeremy’s hands, and then dragged Yvonne to wash her hands,
“Hey! Where are you taking Yvonne?” Jeremy asked.
Widi replied without turning around. “To wash her hands.
Jeremy took a couple of steps forward, and the bird was still flapping in his hand.
After thinking it over, he walked to the cage, put the bird inside, and closed the door.
When he was done, Widi and Yvonne were already far off in the distance.
Jeremy mumbled in confusion, “When did Widi become so close to Yvonne?”
Hearing that, a smarty–pants jumped in to explain, “Jeremy, it must be because Yvonne is so adorable! You know how girls fove cute things, right? So when they see our Yvonne, they can’t help but be charmed.”
Another teenage boy echoed, “Yeah, even we like her very much. Of course, Widi would too.”
Jeremy thought for two seconds, then nodded in agreement with a serious face. “You’re right.”
Meanwhile, Widi had brought Yvonne to wash her hands.
She washed fast, then dried her hands and stood to the side, watching the little girl rubbing soap bubbles on her hands.
Widi’s inner gossip radar started going off again. She couldn’t hold back anymore and asked curiously. “Yvonne, do you know what your brothers told your future brother–in–law?”
Yvonne stopped playing with the bubbles and looked up at her, blinking her big, round eyes cluelessly. “Future brother–in- law?”
She blinked again, then honestly shook her head and replied, “I don’t know.”
Widi said, “Alright, no worries, keep washing.”
