Chapter 353
So Widi didn’t want to respond to Teresa’s question. She knew that even if she told her the reason, it wouldn’t change her mother’s mind.
But after a few seconds of silence, she figured staying quiet wasn’t the best idea either. So she gave a half–hearted “mm” and replied casually, “Just felt like studying it.”
Teresa’s gentle smile faltered. She doubted if any young people enjoyed school.
Sensing Widi’s coldness, she felt a headache coming on. If she hadn’t felt guilty about what she had said earlier, she probably would’ve started scolding Widi.
But after thinking about it, Teresa reminded herself that they had time to smooth things over, especially since they’d already argued about John earlier. So Teresa decided to let it go for now to avoid pushing Widi further.
She knew Widi hated hearing about the house, so she dropped the subject.
Then something occurred to her, and she quickly added, “By the way, Widi, don’t tell your grandfather about what we talked about today. I don’t want him to worry.”
Only Teresa understood the true meaning behind her words. Pretending to be concerned about Richard was just a front. Avoiding a reprimand was her real motive.
If the old man found out she tried to stop Widi from going to graduate school to keep that house, he would be furious.
And if he was in a bad mood, he might take away their share of the inheritance altogether.
Things had already been rough since her husband was transferred to Blorence City. She was still trying to prove herself, hoping Richard would eventually let them move back.
Everyone knew how seriously Richard took education. If Widi hadn’t had a conflict with John, Teresa never would’ve tried to stop her from continuing her studies.
However, once Widi went to graduate school, it would be even more impossible for her to give up the house outside of Peral University. That was why she wanted her to graduate early so that she could give her daughter another property in exchange.
And honestly, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with but Widi still didn’t understand where she was coming from.
“They’re real siblings. Why be so calculative? If John does well in the future, Widi will naturally benefit too. Thinking that, Teresa glanced at the time.
She had been out for a while. There were still things she needed to take care of ahead, so she couldn’t stay longer. Before leaving, she caught the look on Widi’s face and gently reminded her to explore the hotel.
She knew a young lady at Widi’s age hated being cooped up.
Remembering how Yvonne had invited Widi to make scented candles, Teresa smiled and added, “Widi, if you get hang out with Yvonne and the others. If your dad and I need you, we’ll call you.”
bored, go
It was obvious that Teresa knew how to make her children happy and considerate.
Widi gave a quiet “mm” in response without looking touched or showing any emotions that Teresa had hoped for. She just stayed where she was, playing on her phone with her head down.
As Teresa walked past her on the way out, Widi didn’t say a word.

Chapter 353
She had long ago stopped fantasizing about receiving love from anyone in her family. She couldn’t even recall when.
So when that happened, she felt like an outsider watching it from a distance, even a bit disgusted by how fake it seemed. Other than that, it didn’t really affect her at all.
But she did catch one thing Teresa said before leaving, that she should go to hang out with Yvonne if she was bored.
And actually, she was curious about what had just happened between Jeremy, Rupert, and the others.
+68
As someone who loved drama, she wasn’t about to miss a juicy situation like this. She noticed something was wrong between these people a long time ago.
Thinking that, Widi texted Vic for the location, then headed over.
Upon reaching her destination, she spotted the group in the distance, seemingly having a great time.
The group, which started with three people, had grown to six with the addition of Jeremy’s three friends, who looked familiar to her. She vaguely remembered seeing them at the house before.
They were all goofing around with cats and dogs, laughing and joking.
As Widi walked over, the three teenage boys looked up and politely greeted her. “Widi.”
“Hi, guys,” Widi nodded at them.
Yvonne, who had been playing nearby, also spotted her and came bouncing over. Her big eyes lit up. “Hi, Widi!” she called out in a sweet voice.
Widi wasn’t always cold and cynical. Around someone this adorable, her expression gradually softened.
The little girl, her eyes sparkling with excitement, tilted her head up to smile at her sister as they shared a special moment.
She fumbled around her body with her chubby little hand, and then happily handed something that was still fluttering to Widi’s hand.
In her childish voice, she said, “Widi, you can play with this bird.”
Widi had been completely distracted by Yvonne’s cute little face and hadn’t even looked at what the little girl was handing her.
It wasn’t until Yvonne gently pulled Widi’s hand open and placed something warm and squirmy into her palm that she finally looked down.
“Ah!” she yelped, quickly flinging it away on reflex.
The little bird was tossed into the air, but it steadied itself and calmly flew back to Yvonne, trying to burrow into her shirt and chirping softly like a baby chick.
Widi was still processing what happened, but the moment she saw the bird trying to wriggle into Yvonne’s shirt, she reached forward to grab it and managed to yank the bird out.
The bird didn’t seem happy about it and kept trying to flutter back toward Yvonne.
