Chapter 341
Widi had already come to terms with it, so it didn’t really bother her anymore.
It was like taking the same medicine too many times, after a while, it just stopped having an effect.
At this point, she just felt a mix of helplessness and amusement.
“John never cared about me as his sister. When we were kids, he used to call me names all the time, and you never said a thing. So now, all of a sudden, I’m supposed to care about him? How does that work?” Widi said.
Teresa could hear the frustration in her voice, but she didn’t have time for that.
She checked the clock, realized she had to leave soon, and went straight to business. “If you can’t get through to him, then go to that girl. Start with her. Just make sure they break up, whatever it takes.”
‘Seriously?‘ Widi almost laughed. This was the kind of thing you’d see in a drama, where the rich mother hands over a check and says, “Here’s fifty million, stay away from my son.”
As someone raised in the modern world, Widi wasn’t about to do something that ridiculous. If anything, she was tempted to talk Teresa out of it.
“Mom, it’s 2025. That’s embarrassing. I’m not doing it,” she said, deadpan.
Teresa looked at her like she’d lost her mind. But before she could say anything, Widi added, “How do you know the girl is the problem? What if John is the bad influence here? He’s at that age where he wants to rebel, right?”
Back when their parents lived in Strate City, they kept John under strict control, so he had no choice but to act like a well- behaved kid. But Widi had always known he hated it.
Then their parents got transferred to Blorence City, and suddenly, no one was watching him anymore. So of course, all that pent–up rebellion finally exploded.
Widi had been through it herself, so she knew exactly how this would go.
John got bored easily. If they just left him alone, he’d eventually lose interest and break up with the girl all on his own. Once this phase passed, he’d go right back to normal.
Besides, John was only a sophomore in high school, it wasn’t the end of the world. He still had time to catch up.
Widi, on the other hand, had her college entrance exam coming up next June.
This was crunch time. And she wasn’t even asking for much, just for her parents to not mess things up even more.
But apparently, that was already asking too much.
Teresa stared at her like she had just grown another head. “John is your brother. Why are you always siding with outsiders?”
That hit a nerve. Widi had been sitting there listening to nearly forty minutes of nonstop complaints.
First both parents, then her dad left, and her mom just kept going. And not once had anyone asked how she was doing.
She frowned and snapped, “I’m not siding with anyone. I’m just telling the truth. I’ll always support whoever is right.”
Neither of them was backing down. The air between them was tense, like a spark would set it off.
Outside the room, Vic quietly pulled Jeremy a few steps away from the door.

He glanced at it, then back at Jeremy, and said under his breath. “If this keeps going. Widi and Aunt are gonna blow up in
there
He sighed. “All this over a relationship. Should we go in and get Widi?”
The thought about it. Storming in would be awkward. His aunt knew full well that he and Jeremy didn’t talk to Widi much, there would be no believable reason to interrupt. It would just make things worse.
Then he looked down at the little girl in his arms, and suddenly, an idea hit him.

Inside the room, just as Jeremy had predicted, the tension was about to snap.
Widi had finally had enough. She took two steps forward, her voice shaking slightly, cheeks flushed with anger.
Since you saw me, all you’ve done is ask me questions, blame me, tell me to fix things for John. But have you even once asked how I’m doing? Do you even realize I’ve got the college entrance exam coming up?!” she said.
Teresa’s face stiffened for a second, like she had been caught off guard, but she quickly recovered. Straightening her back, she brushed it off and said calmly, like she was just stating facts, “Your dad and I both know you’re the responsible one.
You don’t mess around, your grades are solid. But your brother? He’s always been a handful. Of course we’re more worried about him.”
Widi let out a breathless laugh, sharp and bitter.
Teresa had all that energy to justify herself, but not even one word to check if Widi was okay.
She didn’t know if it was because her mom didn’t think she needed comfort… or just didn’t care enough to offer it.
That old rebellious feeling surged up again. Widi squared her shoulders, knowing exactly where to poke to get a reaction, and she went for it.
And yeah, it worked. Teresa’s face darkened, and for a second, Widi thought they might actually start yelling.
But then, the door behind them opened. Both women turned their heads.
No one at first glance… then they looked down.
Yvonne stood at the door, holding onto the frame with both hands, trying to squeeze her little body through the gap.
Noticing their eyes on her, she paused. Then she slowly looked up with a tiny, sheepish smile, her voice soft and polite. “I… I saw the door open, so I came in…”
Widi immediately got it. She knew why Yvonne was here. Her anger faded almost instantly, her tone gentler now. “Sorry, I’m a bit late. Let’s go make candles, yeah?”
The little girl walked over hesitantly, then reached up and gave Widi’s pants a light tug. “Candle.”
Across the room, Teresa’s expression shifted again fast.
