After a moment, Yvonne heard the makeup artist’s gentle cue. Her little fists relaxed, and she blinked her big eyes open. She checked the mirror but didn’t see any difference.

Vic, stuck in place while getting his hair done, couldn’t turn to look at her. “Yvonne, look at me,” he called.

She peeked out, and now he could see her properly. He smiled. “Your face is all pink, like a little jelly.”

“Really?” Jeremy chimed in, curious. “Let me see.”

Yvonne turned to him without hesitation. He studied her for a second, then nodded. “Yeah, you do look like a little jelly.”

Her cheeks were rosy, her skin was clear, and the way she bounced around made the comparison even more fitting.

“So cute,” he complimented, then asked the makeup artist, “How do I wash this off my sister’s face?”

“It’s skincare–based blush. Just rinse with water twice before bed,” she replied.

Jeremy made a mental note.

Once their makeup was done, they went to change. On the way out, they passed by Widi’s dressing room and knocked again, but the staff gave the same response, she still wasn’t there.

Jeremy frowned. “Where the hell did she go?”

Then a thought hit him. “Wait… what if she’s still mad? Is she ignoring Yvonne on purpose?”

The little girl, sharp–eared as ever, lifted her head from Vic’s shoulder, her eyes full of concern. “Then what do we do?”

Vic shot Jeremy a look. “What did you say to her?”

Jeremy sighed. “At lunch, I joked that she was jealous I have a little sister and she doesn’t. She got upset and cried, but I apologized right after.”

He hesitated, then added, “Do you think I actually hurt her feelings?”

Vic didn’t buy it. “No way,” he said easily. “Widi isn’t like that. If she was mad, she wouldn’t sulk, she’d tell you straight to your

face.”

Still thinking, he asked, “By the way, where the hell are Jack and John?”

Jeremy had actually brought this up before lunch. “No idea about Jack, but John? He fell for some girl, tanked his grades, and Grandpa found out. Now he’s grounded.”

Not that it really mattered. As long as the elders showed up, no one cared if the younger ones did.

Besides, the third branch still had Widi, and that was enough.

Even Jeremy knew that despite all the constant bickering, when it came to family events, they always stuck together.

Yvonne’s engagement was a big deal. If any family’s elders didn’t show up, people would start talking.

Hearing that, Vic felt even more sure of his guess. “Then she’s probably with Uncle Charles.”

So, they changed course and went looking for Widi. The hotel was massive, but at least now they had a solid lead.

As they walked down a long corridor, Widi’s voice suddenly carried from one of the rooms.

The hotel rooms were soundproof, but they could still pick up bits of conversation.

That made it easy just find the door that wasn’t fully shut.

Jeremy scanned the hallway and quickly locked onto a private room with the door slightly ajar, the handle still pressed down. He mudged Vic with his elbow, tilting his head toward it.

Widi sounded beyond frustrated, like she had been repeating herself all day. “Mom, you know what John is like. He barely even acknowledges me as his sister most of the time. How am I supposed to control him?”

What she didn’t say was that boys his age thought they were in some kind of dramatic drama whenever they fell in love. So naive Thy talking sense into them, and suddenly she’d be the villain.

He wouldn’t listen. And when it all crashed and burned, he would probably blame her too, like it was somehow her fault.

So, Widi figured, let him learn the hard way. Nobody could stop someone from falling in love. After getting dumped once or twice, he would get it.

Widi had just opened the door, ready to step out, when Teresa grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

John can’t date that girl anymore,” Teresa said firmly. “Since your father and I aren’t in Strate City right now, I’m leaving this to you. Make sure he breaks up and focuses on his studies. Keep an eye on him.”

She had come today only to realize both her sons were missing. After asking around, she found out about the mess John had gotten into.

Even Richard had caught wind of it.

Apparently, John had been skipping class, but because of who he was, the teachers didn’t say anything. It only became a problem when his latest exam scores dropped, knocking him down more than twenty places in the rankings.

However, Widi wanted no part of it. It was a lost cause.
